Has anybody found a simple way to make a sail for a kayak that isn't necessarily designed for it. Say, a Tarpon?

Carry a big towel with you, and hold it up.

I have used a wind paddle sail before. It is a good downwind sail and you can even reach with it a little. I got it at Mariner Sails. They will attach to almost any kayak.

I know some kayakers just take an personal-size quality umbrella with them.

When the wind is in their favor, they'll just pull it out and open it.
