2/10 Went fishing using chicken breast and CJ's Punch bait. Fished for about 4 hours without anything to show for it. My depth finder got a bad connection, and ended up having to guess where some deeper holes where. I don't normally fish for catfish, so this was new to me. Fished the trinity river, not sure what the water temp was, but probably around 55 deg. Current is still moving pretty good, water still a bit dirtier than normal. I've got a few questions if anyone would like to give some tips. When fishing bends in a river, do you fish the inside (say where there is a sandbar), or the outside of the bends where the current is? Would you fish the straights instead? When fishing where there is debris such as logs and such, do you fish upstream or downstream? What kind of rig would you use fishing in a river?

When I'm fishing moving water I generally look for areas of slack water (spots where the water is glass smooth compared to the rest of the river or creek) and usually use a heavy enough slip sinker to get the bait to bottom without being so heavy I can't feel a bite and use about an 18" leader with a number 6 treble hook if I'm using punch bait
