Heading out 2/17...or not...depending on where this goes. What is the point of TFF if not for disseminating information? All bad news is now being deleted...wow I've really not been to this forum in awhile!

Went to Obregon two weeks ago and fished Oviachic for 7 days. We drove the whole way there and back. I went with a man who has been doing it for 25 years. Met two 70 year old men from Pheonix who were coming down when we went thru customs and it was their 37th year. Carpe Diem, you never know when your heart will beat it's last beat.

I agree I was at El Salto 3 weeks ago. And Comedero this weekend. Picachos last May. No problems at all. That's 3 trips ion the last year. Caught over 50 over 5# s. And 10 over 7 including a 10 . Over 400 fish in 8 1/2 days. Memories that I hope to never forget as a fisherman. With old friends and making new. All this makes it worth it for me. Not 1 time was I uncomfortable. I feel safer there than many neighborhoods in Texas. (Not to mention the out of state ones) Some of us just live life and rock on. Others stress over things I don't. You have to chose your own risk and commit to that. Just live life. Just my 2 cents.

You are more likely to be killed in South Chicago or East Los Angeles, just use common sense, travel as a group, don't travel at night.

Just came back from El Salto & Comedero. The groups that were robbed came in after us. The banditos started up the river and worked there way down. They were armed and relieved the fisherman of all their money, jewelry, and gear. They didn't harm anyone which is per usual as I was told. About 5 +/- boats were robbed at gun point from Different lodges on the lake. At El Salto we had no problems and a great stay, boating 100 fish a day. At Comedero we had armed guard escorts to and from the ramp and they patrolled by boat while we were fishing. Also at lake Comedero the Mexican Marines were flying in by helicopter and dumping diesel on marijuana and opium crops they were growing on the islands, on both lakes. They did this multiple times for a few days.
