Several years ago some guys thought chicken breast for bait was crazy but think about it. Where do you think all those baby ducks go!!! And once you have had a full grown teal regurgitated up in your live well you will see the logic!!!

I had a trot line full of chicken breast and came back with almost every hook with a box fish.. I've caught several big fish on jugs with chicken breast as well.. I'm a firm believer in it for catfish bait for sure.... I can't say it'll consistently catch trophies like cut shad, but it'll definitely fill a cooler.

And once you have had a full grown teal regurgitated up in your live well you will see the logic!!! About 5 years ago you said on this forum that you knew somebody on Lewisville that caught them on chicken breast. I don't know if you were ashamed to admit it or not, but I had just started fishing for blues and decided to try it. I have since caught probably close to 3,000 lbs. of blues with it. I just squirt some Dead Red on it before I throw it in. I don't know if that helps, but is sure hasn't hurt. I have fished side by side with shad and buffalo and done just as well with chicken. Actually better than buffalo. At $1.99 a lb. at Walmart it is pretty easy to catch bait, and I can easily get 3 hours of fishing out of two breasts.

I knew an ole boy who swore by raw chicken skin. I'm thinking it might work since it contains a lot of fat, and should stay on the hook pretty well.

I have only tried this once two weeks ago.
Used frozen chicken breasts with some squirts of dead red. Of course it thawed really fast.
Caught 2 channels and a small blue while a rod baited with a big old ball of night-crawlers right next to the chicken rod went untouched.
I am going to try again this weekend.... Going to check the asian store to see if I can find anything fun to try. But sounds like I might be just as well staying with the chicken.

Why feed a catfish chicken breasts? Why not? Cheap boneless skinless chicken is only about $2/lbs if that (depending on where you go). As far as bought bait is concerned... that is pretty cheap. Its also extremely convenient.

I've caught a bunch of big blues with chicken. Tried it with and without dead red, about the same results. Little pieces or big chunks, try it every which way.

Get some Norwegian mackerel at the Asian market and thank me later. I have only tried this once two weeks ago.

Never used the actual breast meat. Have used chicken skin. On Trotlines and R@R. Done well on Channels and eatin size blues. Real greasy and stays on the hook well.

Hey KQT, not sure if you heard, but some guys got a warning from the GW the other day for using that Norwegian mackerel. Since mackerel is considered a game fish in Texas, it's not legal to use it for bait.
