I caught my first fish on the bank on March 13th last year.. I was getting limits by the end of the month. must have been a warm water lake because where I was fishing temps were between 44-48 after all the snow melt around that time last year Must have been way north because I know the lake I was fishing around that time was not even close to being that cold and the limits were coming from a gravel pit.

That was lake lavon. If I recall we had 6-8" of snow around the 10th of March last year......the snow melt cooled the area lakes down a lot. I find it really hard to believe you caught fish shallow 3 days after that.

My little boy's bday is February 27th and we built snowmen last year. I live 2 hrs (almost) due west of Fort Worth, in Newcastle. We held snow on the ground for over a week.
Family loss kept me off the water - no input on fish, just trying to help with temps.

Here is the climate records for last March. The last of the snow was on the 5th not the 10th and if you'll notice the temps leading up to the 13th of March when I did catch jet black males on the bank consisted of warm days and nights. You can believe what you want.

I do wonder if we can get through this month without any snow. It seems that February is a good month to get snow and ice.

Last year, because of the flooding during springtime, we never came close to cathing a limit. Same here.

I'm going to have agree with Anthony as well, little Nick. Remember when I was catching spawners in December a few years ago? Catching them on topwater baits visually. There are always secret spots.

I was there... Secondly, I caught fish in two feet of water last year on a main lake cove. Water temp was 49 on the main lake and 53 in the back of the cove. They were all staging females and good size ones too. I challenge you McKinneycrappiecatcher to think outside of the box and maybe you too can increase your catch rate.
