TPWD fishing reports are extremely helpful compared to the TFF Sam Rayburn reports. Actually both are worthless - just sayin... Sounds like either way you still get your money's worth.

If the TPWD report says throw a worm, I throw a crankbait. If the report says throw a crankbait I throw a worm.

Not bashing but the reason people question the regularity of their reports is at times the water temp is 15-20 degrees off. Common sense would make you question the included fishing report. Not pointing fingers or saying who's "responsibility" it is but inaccurate is inaccurate. Just telling those in the dark not to rely on the states info.

I think the TPWD does a very good job compared to other state's agencies but clearly the fishing reports do not offer much value for those that could benefit from some direction and help on any of the different fish species in our lakes.
What we should expect from a 2015 fiscal budget of $371,300,000.00 is debatable.

I'm certain they make sure that sufficient funds are earmarked for checking anglers on Fayette County Lake. It should be a very safe lake; I've had a license and safety gear check a record THREE TIMES in a single day there.
Given that I was in a boat costing as much as houses used to, and with gear/rigging adding significantly to that total, I posed to one of several officers in one boat the following question in a polite way:
"When you check a serious angler such as myself equipped with the boat and gear you see here, how often do you find such an angler or his guests to be fishing without a valid license or in violation of other regulations?" The reply I received was expected: "Very rarely." I then commented that when a license violation was discovered, it was probably a surprise to the angler as well, and not intentional. An officer replied "You're probably right."
For the life of me I don't know why they don't stack their odds a bit by being smart about which anglers get checked for infractions/violations. I don't say this to get out of anything - I've been checked for over 40 years and have yet to be nabbed red-handed in any violation.

I'm sure on their monthly activity reports they have to record how many contacts or license checks they did in the field. The ones with more contacts are theoretically doing a better job ensuring compliance and/or interacting with their stakeholders (the public). I'm familiar with the terms because I have to write similar reports each month for my job. I'd bet their goal when they get to the lake is to check every single boat and bank fisherman that they can find that day, nomatter how unlikely it is that they'll find an infraction.
However, three inspections in one day goes beyond "keeping honest people honest" to borderline harassment.

Copy that , we are easy to check because we are in compliance with the laws , I have been involved in license checks multiple times to the point it felt like harassment .

Went to Martin Creek on Sat/Sun and the weekly report which came out on Thurs said "Water clear ...". If anyone was at Martin Creek this weekend they can support my claim that the water was practically murky and it hadn't rained in quite a while.
