I recently posted a 'fishing report video' about a Capt. using some of the Rockport Rattler jigs I invented catching fish on them w/o using plastics, ... I also posted some tips about doing that since I was doing that BEFORE I put them on the market back in May of 2003 !!!

The fishing this year here in the Coastal Bend should be the best we have had in quite some time - basically since the awesome winter rains of 1996 - 1997 when the Cedar Bayou fish pass was also open and functioning correctly. We have had the same conditions the past 15 months and Cedar Bayou is now open again. Grease your reels and get ready for some good fishing.

I target trout, but most times this year I can string at least 1 flounder consistently - which is saying a lot about how good our fishing conditions are right now.

I'll be in Ingleside Feb 12-15th. Takin my 17' aluminum CC.. RR are about the only heads I use down there anymore. Any insight on that area?

Ok awesome, I can def do that. So you're talking about -10' of water then. Mostly.

Most trout are caught in far less than 10' of water, more like less than 3'.
There's a lot of visual clues on reefs, usually you can see current and wave patterns change around the reef, when it's slick, you'll see some manner of baitfish activity. Pay attention, it's shouting at you if you listen carefully.

And bigger isn't necessary, six foot shell pads can hold fifty trout on them. And not catch the fury of a fleet of potlickers.

Yes sir I understand that it's way shallower than what I'm used to, just getting a general idea of cold water patterns. I mainly have had success in the fall into early winter on the flats (around shamrock to be specific) I've never fished down there in Feb, I'm pumped that i'm going to get to though. 10-4 on the paying attention. Some very helpful info for me here. I greatly appreciate it.

So should I be able to find (I use the term "find" loosely lol) some reefs/shell holding structure in the ingleside part of the bay? In that area around the island and what not? Or should I trailer to other areas?

I've been doing some research and I think I'll do alright. My concern is navigating the large swells the tankers will throw in my 17' flatbottom CC, any pointers?
