Hey TxDanFishMan, Ralph Gauthier pronounced Goshay was the best big bass guid on the lake in the 70's He guided out of Lanan. He caught a lot of big bass and was a legend in his own time. I never met him only heard of him. Who knows, maybe we fished some of the same holes.

I remember the name Shine but that was long ago. There were so many great fishermen back then of which many are retired millionaires from Pro Bass fishing now. I never turned completely pro as I had an advertising and public relations business that kept me really busy. Perhaps that was a big mistake on my part. I'm not a retired millionaire like them. But I proved many times I could hang with the best of them.

Brings back good memories, was lucky enough to grow up on the North end of the Lake from late 70's to I graduated HS. Dad guided out of Huxley & Harvey's with some great fisherman. We were blessed to have grown up there.

I grew up in Marshall in the 70s and it seemed like all the local fishermen went to Toledo Bend every weekend. It was probably the best bass lake in the U.S. at that time.
Very impressive mount and day on the lake, Spring Lizard.

Caught 3 today in a couple of hours on our private lake. Average 3 lbs. Yep Springl Lizzardwaterdog strikes again. Here is a better look at the waterdog, to legs, two arms creates a sleek and longer profile than a pork chunk. Lot more action too without doing anything special which is what you want when the water is cold. [img:left] [/img]

My mother grew up on the Sabine River before the lake was built. My grandfather had land just to the north of Doyle English Marina. It's still in the family. TB is where I learned to fish with my uncles back in the sixties. Good memories for me.

Can't buy this Parachute Jig. I invented it in 1995. Braided wire with two small cupped blades that spin like a helicopter blade instead of a normal spin blade. When you lift it up off the bottom it does a summersault and heads back the way it came from...Dinner is served with a spring lizard waterdog pork rind attached. Photo was taken by Blue Moon, a fantastic photographer.
