For me it's probably a tie between my Mini Mag (Excalibur) and my Cabelas 3wt. Nothing heaves the weird stuff I tie that resembles small birds into the thick and nasty stuff like my TFO blue stick of happiness, but then again, the 3wt can be pure relaxation with less risk of pulling down someone's boat house.

Thanks tmds3 but I'm in Georgetown, about 20 min. N. of Austin. There is a fly shop in Roundrock. I think it is called "Living Waters". Stop by and visit with them before you buy anything. They can answer a lot of your questions.

Going thru my old post on here. I think we should revisit this one guys. Mine has changed to my 3wt 8' and 10' BVK versions. fished it almost exclusively while up in Colorado. Some very large Rainbows and browns fell victum to this set up, out of the South Platte at Elevenmile Canyon and Deckers. As well as some smaller Browns, Brookies and cuts on the smaller creeks.

Have to go with my 7'6" tfo 3wt. That thing is a Sandbass slaughtering machine and seeing is the big browns wanted the little stuff at night last year on the white river it also landed all of the big browns I caught last year.

Do have to agree with 2flyfish4 on the windy day I'll up it to a 9' 4 wt. that little 7'6" will wear you out in the wind.

Currently a Echo 10'6 3wt switch. Once I build me a 11' 2/3 wt super noodle spey, that'll probably be the new fav.

I'm with RexW and 2FlyFish4. I find myself using my TFO Finesse 8'9" 3wt more and more. I have a 5wt and 7wt but my 3 gets out of the case a lot more often. Don't know that you can purchase another brand rod with a better warranty and customer service to back up the purchase.

I love my 3 weight but sure love heading to the salt with the 8 weight and catching gator trout or 30 lb bull reds in Louisiana. Went to LA for the first time this year and I was blown away...seriously blown away by the size and fight in the bull reds.
I typically fish the Lower Laguna but will be making it back to the LA marsh once a year from now on.

4wt. I have a 3 but it can be tuff on bigger fish when you find them in local creeks. My 4 is 7'4". You ain't gonna cast 100 feet but it is easy casting all day.

Helios II 9' ft 5 wt midflex. It has the finesse of an ultra light 3wt but has the backbone to pull in 7 lb striper.
