You still have to pay $10 but it's a lot nicer with pavement and bathrooms.

I like the way it was 30 years a go. You could camp, drive out on the property and gather all the dead wood you needed for your fire and just enjoy the serenity of the outdoors. So many fond memories of this place. I learned just about everything I know about fishing for spawning whites while fishing this river. It is here where I first got addicted to this sport. I havent missed out on a white bass spawn in 44 years. I always put black bass fishing on the back burner when this action gets going.
From looking at some of these pics, it appears that the lake water is backed up to this area. A snap shot of downstream would confirm this though. In these photos, they are of natural holes with a good amount of water flow. But it looks like the lake water is backed up to this area, which is a good thing. Thanks for the pics, really brings back some great memories.

The video was awesome, thanks. They have a mean bike trail out there now as well. Mountain bikes are needed. The rock climbing has really been on fire. It started about ten years a go and now has become a go to place for Austin goers. It was supper awesome back in the day where this place only attracted anglers. You could go for a hike and never run into another person. Kick back, enjoy the silence and beauty of mother nature while soaking up some sunshine.

Now that I've seen this video of Reimers, I might haul my boat in that direction and motor on up to this place. You can get hooked up with a bunch of fish jigging a spoon in the deeper lake water before it hits the river current. Or I can beach the boat on a sand bar and do some wade fishing. What really would be fun is to take a tent and spend several days on the river. But now days, there really isn't to many places to do this with out a land owners running you off. But I use to do this and it was a blast.

From looking at these photos on my computer, I can see more detail. And yes, that is water backed up from the lake. If the lake continues to rise, then this place will be under water and the spawn will be farther upstream where you can not drive, get out and fish. You will have to get up there in a boat of some sort. It looks like it is right on the border line at this level.

Nah, there are always places to fish around Reimers. The fish go through there, and return through there, so A part, or Parts, will be fishable.

Also, The Hamilton Pool area has always been good for spawning whites, when the water was high enough for them to go that far, and this year it will be.

Definitely planning a trip this yr

I've always wanted to visit the water's there. Seems like this year may be the best time to try it out for The run.

Gonna be working about 15 miles from here on Monday. Never been before. Any advice for a fisherman on foot? Waders? Best places to start/avoid? Like I said never been before.

Waders are the best option for fishing this place. To be able to cast to some of the deeper pools you almost need to have them. It's a little early for the White Bass run in the Perdernales, but you never know. You should be able to catch some small black bass and bream on light tackle. I would start fishing right below the road that goes down to the water and work your way upstream. It's a cool hike if nothing else. Good luck.

Guadalupe bass should be stirring as well. February should kick off the run, I usually start targeting the advance scouting parties around President's day(Feb 15 this yr) and from then on, IT'S ON! That is a roundabout date, but usually it is productive, depending on the whims of the weather.

You can throw a larger jig into the deeper pockets, slow roll it close to the bottom and pick up some staged males right now. Or I've done this in the past any way. But it's still a little early for Reimers. They would prefer to stage in the main body of water in the lake till the water warms up just right.
Can anyone tell me where the lake level is at Reimers. Is there rapids just below that hole as you come down the hill, or is the lake level high enough to where the only shallow fast moving water is upstream from the road coming down?

Here's a better way to tell about lake level, can you drive a boat all the way to Reimers?

That area up by Hamilton pool belongs to Eugene Reimer, Hennerys son. He does not allow bank anglers to access the river; they will run you out of there. Hes pretty adamant about this as well. He even fusses at anglers who show up in their boats. They have tried to run me off before, but I didnt budge. He doesnt own the water way. I had beached my boat and was wade fishing at the time. Right below the so called water falls around that big bolder.
