Here's the deal....I live in Northwest Arkansas and I'm planning a trip to East Texas early April. I'm picking up my brother in-law from DFW April 7th in the afternoon. I'm thinking of the following plan. This is my big trip of the year and don't want to screw it up. Haven't fished either lake. Will have my 2012 Basscat Cougar. April 7th - Travel day April 8th - Fish Toledo Bend April 9th - Lake Fork April 10th - Lake Fork (fish AM then head to DFW)
Q#1: Does it make sense to fish two lakes or stay at one if we're only have 2 1/2 days? Q#2: If we stay at one lake, should we fish Lake Fork or Toledo?

Fork will be very crowded at that time. I'd fish anywhere else if that's an option. TB is a good option and will be much less crowded.

Spend as much time at Toledo Bend as possible, early April is an AWESOME time to be there and its the best lake in the state right now.

I think Toledo would be much more relaxing and fun. It should be on fire at that point and giving up some big fish I would stay there for the entire trip.

Ditto all that. But the big question is which one does the brother-n-law want to do? Some people have a burning desire to fish Fork. (Bucket List) The only problem with Toledo is that it is much larger and can be difficult to navigate (much more that Fork) if you do not know much about the lake.

Nice boat (I have one also). I would spend the time at Toledo. Get yourself the Boat Lanes chip for Toledo from Lance Vick. Will save you lots of time and maybe even your trip and a lower unit.

All things equal, I'd also choose Toledo. You've got the same chance to catch a giant there with a lot less disrespectful people.
Here is something to consider that no one has mentioned. Toledo can be very dangerous with north wind. Even a 12-15 mph north wind will cripple a trip. So I would pay attention to the forecast as you get close to be sure one of those late northerns isn't predicted on the days you're planning on being there. If so, it would be well worth your time to change your plans and go on to Fork.
Stay at Fin & Feather. Plenty of good water to fish real close....nice rooms....good restaurant and cold beer!

The only thing to add is have him meet you at the lake and it will save you a lot of time.

Fork in April ain't no joke either sir. BIL can meet you there and save you time and gas. If you do decide to come to Fork hollar at me and I will point you in the right direction bud. PM me or call either one man. Good luck and I wish I would have done more stuff like this with my brother.

Fin & Feather is really nice. Was there last weekend. Good food at Fin & Feather. Lot of good water right there in Housen. Definitely get the boat lanes chip from Lance Vick. It will make navigation so much easier. Rayburn is just a few minutes away also. Lots more water and way less traffic. Fork will be packed.
