I could see it being really useful for guys who do beach fishing for sharks and bull reds and whatnot. Instead of paddling a kayak out to drop the bait, you just send in the drones.

I don't believe in bed fishing anyway's, it hurts the bass population, now all these biologist will chime in but they can talk about it until they're blue in the face. It's common sense, if they can't lay the eggs or protect the fry they have no chance of survival. Maybe it need to come to a point like it is in the northern states for some fishing... put a season on bass... and no spring fishing while they are on beds... You do realize that the bank beaters catch way more bed fish than actual sight fisherman do? Anyone fishing in less than 6ft avg in east Tx lakes are bed fishing in the spring, they just don't know it... What's the difference if I take 5 5lbers that I can see as opposed to the bank beaters who might catch 20 fish up to 5lbs and moving them around the lake as they cull all day? We both weigh in 25 lbs but one guy caught and moved a bunch of fish around and I moved 5... It's all perception, if you have a problem with bed fishing, don't fish in late Feb thru early may cause there are way more you can't see than you can see...

So back to the subject of drones ... here's one I ordered a while back ( https://www.lily.camera ). It was supposed to be here this month, but they have pushed back the release date until this summer. The Lily drone is waterproof and you don't have to fly it. Just toss it in the air and it follows you around. Top speed is 25, so it can't chase you in a bass boat running down the lake at 65, but it may end up being a fun tool to video fishing, biking, kayaking or anything where you would want a camera above recording what you are doing. It also floats, so if you run out of battery time or it just crashes in the lake, you can recover it.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Well bed fishing has not hurt any lake in Texas yet. And if u dont believe in it, basically u have to sop fishing from Feb to late April.
Texas already has a remote control law in the books for fishing. Although I dont think using a drone would be illegal. I also don't think a drone will be that helpful in finding bedding bass.
JP, I was also tempted by the Lily, thing looks cool.

Yes, because I never see that many guy's running down the bank as you say. Plus these guy's are not purposely trying to catch bedding fish. Look I'm not trying to start a war here, my point was simply that bed fishing is not good for a lake period, oh and the drone thing should not be allowed.

We use Fish finders to see under the water. is there that much of a difference in the "ethics"? Heck, we use lights to attract fish at night.

People have successfully been arming their drones with guns ... we could just shoot the bass on the beds or better yet, shoot all the carp

Wow. That Lily camera is really cool. Had no idea drone sophistication was reaching that level. It makes you proud of the human race; we never stop exploring new horizons regardless of direction (or consequence for that matter).
What if the white light is just some kind of cosmic fishing hole and God loves us because we taste good.

do drones have polarized lens? Yeah, they make polarized lenses for cameras that work on drones.
