Wait till it warms up just a little...^

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Before I caught my first big blue I cut every fish I caught but for the past 8 years no fish over 10 pounds is the rule on my boat. I am not a guide but learned from the guides I fished with before I bought my own boat and tackle to handle a day on twok. Kudos to everyone who lets the bigguns swim!

I made a comment about someone running 100s of jugs out of a pontoon boat on Tawakoni and someone responded that I must have exaggerating and no one could run that many jugs...only to send me a PM a little later with some kind of weird message that said something like..."sorry about the response...I thought you might have talking about my grandfather".

I thought that was funny. At any rate... This group had so many jugs out that navigation through this part of the lake was impossible.

The 100 hook per a person rule needs to become 100 hooks per a boat.

I say if the limit is 25 per day the limit should be 25 hooks per man.

I wish these regulations would go statewide specially for blues . Problem like these exist in every single lakes . Even tho many have started releasing big fish back there are more out there who don't care anything when it comes to conservation .

I want to fish for Big blues before the A-holes screw it up. Not sure I can make it. I can't find a guide in my price range.

Even if a limited is established, people who have 0 care for conservation of our lakes wouldn't always follow it.
It's a shame. Soon it will be extremely difficult to find trophy blues. crying

I love blue catfish and hardly ever catch any, in fact have not caught one in the last year plus (Dec.25,'14) from GV that weighed around 12 pounds and it was the only fish I caught that day. It was legally harvested and it tasted as good as any other fish I had ever eaten. My point here is if I go to a lake that has the new regulation with size limits for blue catfish and I only catch one fish that is within the slot and I have driven 100 miles one way. What do you think I am going to do with that fish? Keep it or return it to the water as specified by the law which was instituted to supposedly protect the future of said fishery, but does not allow for the individual that helped to pay for this resource to retain the same resource that another can make money off of by returning it to the water repeatedly.
It's not about fairness rather about the most popular opinion that matters the most and eventually it will become state wide because of political correctness like everything else in this country, but that is only my opinion. I know I have heard some say well if you can afford to put gas in the car, buy tackle and whatever other expenses incurred then you can afford to just go buy something to eat at the grocery store. The last time I looked I did no see any blue catfish in the store and I'll be darned if I eat any catfish that was produced outside of the USA. BTW I plan to CPR, not pay DNR.

They are a tasty fish to eat and I keep and eat my share. the push is for the limit of large fish that can be kept in a day to drop so that the big blues can reproduce and keep the lakes populated with plenty of fish to be caught to enjoy on the table. Its not only about the money made there are a great number of cat fishing anglers that it is pure expense for us to go and enjoy the spoils and if the fish over 10 pounds were regulated more closely there would be a greater opportunity for the avgerage Joe like you and me to catch more of these fine tasting blues and the big spawning fish would have a better chance of swimming to put out fish for your next trip.
