I can fly my drone over anyone's house . . . any time, as air space is public Only to a point. You have the exclusive right to the airspace over your house and land, as your neighbor isn't allowed to build his roof in a way that results in five feet of it hanging over the property line, right? Likewise, if your tree has branches growing over the fence to the neighbors yard, he's allowed to cut the branches down at the property line, right? If a person happens to fly a drone at or below treetop level over someone's house, it may be lost & gone forever. But, if you're using it on a public body of water, I suspect the only concern you'd have would be to keep the drone far enough away from other fishermen that it wasn't harassing them. I don't know how far that is. Maybe casting distance plus a reasonable safety margin?

I could sit here in Dallas drink beers and send a drone to Toledo to find my lunker on a bed. I'm down with this concept. too many beers and you may start looking in the wrong beds!

The drone discussion web sites and local newspapers and newscasts around the country have posted and followed several instances of land owners often just for fun shooting down drones legally flying above treetop levels over or adjacent to over their houses and yards. Some of these shootings have recently made it through the some of the local court systems.... so far, the land owners seems have each wound up paying full damages to the drone's owners and sometimes also being fined. It's being treated much the same as a land owner illegally shooting out the tires or windows of a car passing on a public street by their home. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/64595/...one-shotgun.htm

FLW Tour Rule 5. Flights over tournament waters, including drones, are not permitted beginning with the the start of the off limits period, extending through practice and competition days.
Off limits is 13 days before the first practice day.

I think the idea sounds pretty cool. But, I would hate to have to go buy one and learn to use it to compete just because everyone else is using one.

Pass - I want a relaxing day on the water. I don't really care what the pros or tournament fishermen do, so long as the drone isn't getting too close to me. If you get close enough for me to hit it with a crankbait, then don't expect to see your drone again.

If you get close enough for me to hit it with a crankbait, then don't expect to see your drone again. My thoughts exactly. I had one buzz me on a lake one day and could clearly see the punk kid that was operating it. When he saw that I was trying to take it down with my lure, he quickly flew it away to go bother someone else. He wasn't looking for fish, just being annoying, which is what comes to mind when I think about drones. It makes me wonder why some people even fish. For the comments about people illegally shooting down drones on their property, I read somewhere that property ownership includes the airspace to a certain altitude.

I don't believe in bed fishing anyway's, it hurts the bass population, now all these biologist will chime in but they can talk about it until they're blue in the face. It's common sense, if they can't lay the eggs or protect the fry they have no chance of survival.

I agree, seems to take the sport out of bass fishing. let them take care of their business. I agree with this too. I think the current state of bass fishing has been heavily influenced by competition fishing. Good, bad, or indifferent, it seems that it's all about catching the most/biggest, at all costs. I think it is a common evolutionary trend among bass fishermen to start out fishing for fun and relaxation and watch it slowly turn into work.

Drones, Side scanning, powerpoles, GPS and everything else out there you can think of, at the end of the day, I just want to go fishing and be thankful for it. Sure all the stuff is cool and I understand why but man, i am happy I do have a trolling motor though, I am to old to paddle,

Maybe it need to come to a point like it is in the northern states for some fishing... put a season on bass... and no spring fishing while they are on beds...
