I know this question has been asked several times but my search function is not yielding the desired results. Someone posted several months ago regarding good information about navigating the north end of Palestine. In the spirit of transparency, we will be fishing a tournament this weekend and neither one of us have ever been on the lake. It was a last minute decision and there is no time for us to pre-fish this week due to work. I am just looking to not completely destroy my boat and would appreciate any advice. I understand that many of you have done your time on this lake and appreciate that fact. I am not looking for specific trails but general info. My plan as of now is to study the google map and idle only. Just would like to know where I should start idling...

The questions are where are you launching, is trailering allowed and where up north are you wanting to go?

I have to ask, why would anyone fish a lake that's like a mine field? My you know what would be too puckered to even fish!

Media is launching out of the villages...best bet is to follow the boat in front of you, but that is still a gamble...I may update the map tomorrow to give a general idea on how to run to Kickapoo, but it's really a run that you need learn on the water.

Run the East bank up to the highline, run the highline to the island, idle around island back to the highline, run the highline to the bridge then idle from there.

**Note I haven't been on the lake in a few years any advice may be outdated, not responsible for lost or damaged equipment!

If you have never been on the lake, the best advice I can give you is don't go north! You would spend half your day idling! Lots of fish on the south end of the lake. The water temp is not that cold for this time of the year on Palestine! Plus, the north end is pretty stained from all the rain... Concentrate on some deeper boat houses! Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thanks for all the info and advice! I am looking forward to a change of scenery and fishing a new lake. It sounds like we need to play the safer option of staying south until we get some time to figure it out.

Run wide open right down the middle of the lake you will be fine!

Good advice in regards to the OP's question. I would fish Saline, Highsaw and Ledbetter if I was fishing Sat and had never been on the lake.

Believe me there are plenty of area's that you can get to and fish with no problem. Saline and Cobb are two of my favorites midlake and you can run to the bridge at Highsaw-Ledbetter and idle into there and fish as well as Flat Creek. Of course the more familiar you get with the lake the more you will want to see what Kickapoo, Cades and Old Folks Playground is all about and you will eventually learn how to access those area's especially for a tournament because they seem to give you the best chance especially early in the year to give you a chance to win the tournament.

For the entire lake? Bad idea!

Stay south. There ain't a tournament out there worth wrecking your boat, or jeopardizing the safety of you and your partner in my opinion.
