No job for me this morning, so I got out on the lake. The cold front got here just after I launched, and the wind blew from the northwest all day. Water temp was 48 to 51 degrees. The lake is slowly clearing, but still pretty dingy. I didn't get a bite at all in my usual water, so I went exploring. And I found some fish. It took me all day, but I caught 25 keepers. Most were really nice fish. They were 9 to 10 feet deep, in 10 to 20 feet of water, holding a drop-off. They bit both a 1/32 oz and 1/8 oz jig. Purple/chartreuse was again the color. All fish were released today. A Cedar Creek limit in December and then a Cedar Creek limit in January. Imagine that! There were some nice black crappie. And there were some nice white crappie.

Good for You! 25 on a windy, winter day is a Great accomplishment!
I have trouble with fish suspended over open water in the winter. When the water gets cold they don't want to bite for me.

Was you on the north or south end. I had wandered down to the southern half of the lake. I have trouble with fish suspended over open water in the winter. When the water gets cold they don't want to bite for me. I've always had a tough time with suspended fish, too. This year, I've been trying to establish how deep the fish are, then find a drop-off thats near that depth, so that I'm trying for fish that are near the bottom, rather than just suspended. Either that has helped me a lot this winter, or I've been the beneficiary of some great dumb luck.

You are doing something right. I braved the weather today and only had two. January and February is tough for me here. About ready to head to the lakehouse at Toledo Bend to get my limit.

Dang Bud wish I had of known you were out I went out Friday as well. Only lasted about an hour. Trolling motor steering cable issues, had to come back to land and feel sorry for myself all day that I was not getting to go fishing on this trip.
