I don't think it will drop that fast but it should be normal by spring if it doesn't come a flood between now and then.

It's over 10' water in the banks near hwy 377. It may take atleast one month to settle the water in the creek if no rain. Hope for the best

Two weeks is a little wishful. The lake is still 20 feet high. In the summer when they were really letting water out they were able to drop it 1 foot every 4 days. You do the math. They are only releasing 1100 cfs right now, but that's better than the 558 they were letting out for a month. Sure hope so cause if I don't get to ride that trail soon or hit my honey hole soon I might go crazy!

Yeah 2 weeks would only bring the lake down a couple of feet with the current release rate.

The bite has really slowed at Gvine for me also. To the point where I am not even going to bother today. It will pick up when the lake drops to normal and as the spawn nears.

hoping for the best for grapevine also. it is very close to the house, and have fished it a pretty good amount in the past year. went a couple weeks ago, and it was really really slow, was able to put the boat in at silver lake, but i have not been back since. hopefully it will continue to drop over the next couple weeks. if so, it could be a really really good spring there.

Guys, You have to think out of the box. I love high water springs. Get yourself a set of waders a 9 or 10' rod and head for the flooded trees and brush. There's nothing like catching a 2 lb crappie in 18" of water. When you stick that jig into the brush be ready to hang on because sometimes they'll be a big catfish sucking down your jig.
Go get em!

Go get em! Very true but when those trees line the shore of the entire lake it tends to spread them out and you are essentially trying to find a needle in a haystack. There is definitely a difference in 1 or 2 ft high and 20 ft high.

You have to target the creeks that is where they spawn. Focus on the north ends of the lakes and you'll have a great time. Lewisville, Lavon, Ray Roberts are great wade fishing lakes in the spring time. Have been for me in past years.

On Grapevine, even the creeks are beyond flooded.

Looks as though it might be a little longer now. Homes along Denton Creek in Coppell are in jeopardy from the creeks bank collapse. The direction/flow of the creek runs right to left and these homes are right in the bend of the creek. Here is the article...Back from Jan 12th. Slope failure on Parker, resulting in back yards collapsing into the creek, leaving homes dangerously close to the edge. This is what happens when developers are permitted is build on 8 feet of back filled dirt with no slope protection on the cut bank of a creek with irregular water levels due to multiple man-made factors. Before these homes were built, consultants to the city had concerns and warned the city not to build until a detailed study of the creek was complete. That never happened and the city engineer recently told the council he'd make the same decision today made back then to approve this. They're now considering a development along the creek at Sandy Lake. . . .
