Does anybody know of any free mapping software that is compatible with the Lowrance .at5 files?
Or of a cheap program that will accept the .at5 files?

I think .at5 files are MAPCREATE proprietary format. Think they are also encrypted so doubt that you can find a converter or another program that can read them besides Mapcreate. Which is why MAPCREATE goes to the trouble to do this. Checked GPSBabel which does convertions between different GPS file formats and MAPCREATE isn't there.
