Torpedo/Tiny Torpedo and Mann Augertail Worms.

I've caught a lot of fish in heavily fished ponds with the Torpedo baits. It's something the fish aren't used to seeing. I used to do really well with Augertail worms but I abandoned them for other fads I guess. I still have some bags that have been stewing in fish attractant for several years.

One of the main baits I have gotten away from has already been mentioned by a couple of others, the Manns Jelly Worm. Blackberry was the color for me, and I plan to use it more this year. Another forgotten lure for me has also been mentioned before, the Bagley Balsa B. One other that I've gotten away from is the shallow diving Bomber Flat A in Tennessee shad.

Lots of lures have either gone out of business, gotten forgotten, or just plain lost popularity -- I caught a lot of fish on Toledo 30 plus years ago with the Smithwick Bros toothpick, devil's horse, and the ever productive Mr Twister spinner bait. The hot spot was also a fondly remembered lure for TB back in those days. And, as far as I can remember, I never paid more than a dollar or so for any of them.

Black Jitterbug. I caught a ton of fish on that bait growing up.

Devil's Horse. The thicker one. I had one with an orange belly that those Fork fish couldn't stand.

I think the regular Devil's Horse was the F100 and the heavier/thicker one was the F200. I have a lot of F100s and a couple of F200 baits. The F200 was great for wind and more distance!

The mention of the Devils Horse brings back good memories. Best top water bass bite I ever experienced happened back in the early 70s fishing what was then the Keller place near Kiowa Peak, in west Texas. Crystal clear spring fed tank, wind blowing, full moon. Now I believe the place is part of a hunting/fishing club.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
