I have used them on the coast for removing hooks from some of the toothy critters.

How's that thing going to work? I don't see how it can grab or hook on to the hook to remove it. I tried google for an answer - nothing but "traditional" hook removers. ?
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

I could solve a rubiks cube faster than getting a hook out with it. hehe I have gone through a pile of hook removers cause I love my babys(carp) and don't want' to cause unneccessary harm during hook removal cause I've been releasing them. It's been so long since I've actively fished that I've forgoten most of my knowledge but I think it is designed to work with a twisting motion. You twist and push down at the same time i think. When you twist it sort of grabs ahold of the hook shank and pushing down drives the barbed end out of the flesh of the fish. I have some models of removers similar to this and decided I like my pliers better.

You hook the hook with this thing and grab your fishing line with your other hand then you flip the fish and it comes right off. I would not recommend using it on soft mouth fish like carp. I used them when I lived on the coast as well like Curt0407 on saltwater cats and red snapper and what not. They work pretty well. I use it some times on crappie when the hooks deep and in the hard part of their mouth. They usually flip right off. If you use it on carp I am afraid it might rip a hole in their soft mouth depending on how big they are. Might work decent on really small carp but do it over the water because they will fly right off.

Yes, I originally thought the tool would make a bigger hole and you confirm it . also i unhook my fish when they are laying on a mat on the ground , trying to use this would not work it seems . Thanks BCJC82.... Do you have access to Fork off your property? Would be willing to rent your backyard for a cuople of days .I hear there are huge buffs and carps there
