What lake is the better for crappie fishing, lake weatherford or lake benbrook? I've only fished weatherford at the crappie house and have never fished benbrook. Planning on pulling my boat down and doing a some fishing on Friday.

I fished Weatherford a lot this summer and caught a bunch of small crappie on brush and condos but never took home any keepers. Most days I would catch 20-30 fish 4" to 8" long. I caught very few keeper sized crappie and never enough too clean. As for Benbrook we started fishing it in late summer and brought home some nice fish, although I have no idea where they will be this time of year. Hope this helps

I'm not sure you can get a boat on benbrook right now. I think all of the ramps are closed.

Do you know what are the ramps closed for? If the ramps are closed it will make for a easier decision. When I have fished at the crappie house at Weatherford I usually do pretty good, but mostly they are all to small. Thanks for all info.

I drove to mustang sunday at benbrook its flooded surprisingly water in places not normally seen all parks are closed

Lake Palestine is the best for catfish ...... why don't you and your friends, family and everybody you know go catch a few hundred THOUSAND!

Both lakes have a good crappie population in my opinion. Benbrook is bigger and when they had the barge in rocky creek it was good.

The "good ole days" of the weatherford barge are long gone because they moved it several years back. But shows flashes of what it used to be every now and then. I would say it's WAS one of the best place to crappie during the winter before it was moved.

I remember seeing water lapping on top of the floor inside because so many people where inside. They were all catching fish too!

I fish the slips and do really well when the fish move in.
They are starting to move in but you have to weed through the toddlers. When we do catch a keeper it's usually a big one .

We just need another cold snap and the water to clear up some more for the fish to really start biting.

Benbrook is a good crappie lake. I have never fished Weatherford so I am not sure about how that lake compares.
