I am curious because i have a pair and have no need for them, They were inherited and being that this is Texas i know they are not very useful here. lol Other than ebay could anyone help me sell them? I have not met the post requirements to post them in the classifieds so i thought i would ask here.

I don't own downriggers. But I live in Belton, and I fish there pretty often. I have seen numerous people down rig for hybrids and white bass. The will find deep suspended fish and troll with a spoon (pet spoon, kastmaster, any shad imitating lure) back and forth over certain points. During some times of the year, this can be a VERY productive technique. You should give it a try before getting rid of them. GL Jamaoke

the only time i have used downriggers is with my uncle trout fishing in idaho. Im sure there are people who use them for stripers though

Josh, downriggers can be VERY useful in winter months for whites/hybrids/stripers. You may wanna hang onto them.

Sometimes in the summer trolling is the only way to get em to bite, downriggers make depth control that much easier.

Down riggers are great for depth control and bait presentation. Perfect for deeper lakes like Texoma and PK. It takes some time to learn how to use them; it's not quite as simple as just put on a lure and set it at X feet. I have a pair of electric Canons, one with manual control and one Digi-Troll. You learn real fast that you need a fishing partner to work the down riggers and stay out of trouble. The Digi-Troll has its own depth finder so it can be set to automatically stay at a certain distance off the bottom, but the manual one requires constant watching to keep from hanging the cannonball when you go over points & humps. And watch out for hidden trees and stumps. Also you learn to use floating baits because otherwise they sink when you stop the boat. Figured out real fast not to bother with big A-rigs 😬 But down riggers can sometimes bring em in when nothing else works.

We run a pair of walker electrics on texoma with great success! It seems to work year round for the most part. Great for locating active fish then change over to casting lures or slabbing .

I run them when it gets really hot and the fish go deep, sometimes it's the only way to get a bite.
