HAve any of you had any experience with Lake Mineral Wells state park from the bank? (Or Brazos River under Tin Top bridge?) My brother in law is down from Colorado and I am wanting to get him into some Catfish. He always makes sure I have a blast Trout fishing when I visit so i would like to return the favor. We are goinf Monday Morning either to the Brazos at Tin Top bridge in Weatherford or to the Lake Mineral Wells state park. Has anyone had experience with either of these?

Sorry guy, I've never fished either spot- But I hope yall have a good out. The weather should make it interesting -

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Yes it is a good catfishing lake. Rod and reel only. You just have to find them.

Thanks, do you recommend a boat or can you get into some catfish just by hitting different areas from the bank?

It's not a bad lake to sit all night Flathead fishing. There's a few in there. The Brazos around Tin Top, for lack of a better term, is a waste of time nowadays for catfish. I've fished there my whole life and in the last 10 years it's really just gone down hill. Don't know why other than the fish kills maybe, due to Golden Algae. You can still catch a few near the mouth of Gbury but I wouldn't go expecting a limit. Sand Bass and bowfishing is about the only reason my boat will get dropped in at Tin Top. Or to drink beer.

Man were you right! Fished the river for 5 hours and only caught a carp. Actually the only bite!

Wouldn't waste my time man. If I was going to fish the Brazos for catfish from shore, on public land, I'd go behind the dam at PK. You can catch anything you want back there. But you'll have to do some tweaking to your rigs because you will hang up.
