If I did not own a ranger, I would have a skeeter. Like their ride a lot. Like the unsinkable ranger. I am convinced I would have sunk another brand a couple times...

As for choosing a boat, don't over extend yourself too much, but don't settle and buy something that isn't exactly what you want... you'll own it for 6th months and already be looking at buying a new boat.

You also may have bought that boat without knowing what you're doing, and what you should have checked out thoroughly. All boats, new or old, are susceptible to blowing a powerhead. You were just one of the unlucky ones. Sorry to hear......I'm picky as Heii when it comes to buying a used boat. If the guy doesn't look like he takes immaculate care of his stuff, if the house and yard is not kept up, if there is paint wore off the skeg, if the boat is not shiny, if the compression is not absolutely perfect, if the boat has been tournament fished, if the boat doesn't have way below avg hours, if seller can't provide regular maintenance records, if the guy does not appear intelligent and is not educated.........I may walk. Sometimes it pays to be picky. Also, did you always warm engine up properly before you took off every trip? All cylinders are not warming when engine is in neutral, BTW....

If I may add to this in regards to the HPDI, more than likely it was the #2 cylinder that was blown. 119 hours on an HPDI and with those motors, the more hours the better. With that particular engine, the less they're run and set, the more likely they seem to be to popping that #2 cylinder. But, with that said, there are many HPDI's running strong, but you have to commit to regular maintenance and changing filters etc. they can be outstanding motors if maintained properly, But, like any DI motor they can blow if they don't get used. After talking to numerous mechanics, I would much rather have a motor with 500 hours that has had regular maintenance and upkeep than one with 100 hours over 5 or 6 years that just got maintenance for the first time in order to sell. Just MHO

Going against the grain here. First off it's always a Skeeter, best value best boat on the market.

Look at the dual console. I have a 2014 ZX20 and was going to have someone remove the passenger console. After leaving it in there for a couple months people riding with me enjoyed the ride more and it didn't cause any issues landing fish. My two cents

I'm a BassCat man myself, but have fished out of Skeeters, and I am definitely not a Skeeter basher! Go with whatever floats your boat!! wink

I think Brian is right about the prices at Fun N Sun Boats. The FX LE's are suppose to be a "Package" boat which means the price should be the same where ever you buy one. Please, take every boat you are interested in out and run it. Then pick a Skeeter! I am partial toward Skeeter and Yamaha because I get to run alot of them. Have some of those guys with other brands meet you on the lake with a Skeeter and go head to head with them. I know the folks at Fun N Sun won't mind at all. Design, stability, holeshot, no backwash, run wide open and take your hands off the steering wheel; You name it, and Skeeter wins. Plus, there is not a better and fishermen friendly Dealership than Jeff Gilbert and Monte Reagan. If there are better dealerships, let me know when they will have their in house boat show with free parking, free admission, Championship for Texas Bass Clubs, etc.and I'll go. When you spend that kind of money, you need someone that will have your back, always!

That LE package should be 65,995 with everything so if that is what you want then I would call around because that is the package price..sounds like the dealers you are talking to are marking it up even more. That is not a bad deal on that demo!

Why buy new, 15% depreciation first year, about 8% 2nd and so on. Solid color is the easiest to repair. As far as BPS umbrella, they own a lot of top names boats now, so you may be limited if that's the case.

Good Luck and enjoy.

look in the boats 4 sale section on here, Zach parker has a 2016 fx 20 skeeter for sale. I'm on my 3rd skeeter & have loved them, if not a skeeter I would go with ranger for resale.
