I've been wanting a power pole for quite some time but they are so expensive. As an alternative I've found a fiberglass rod called. Fish stick the you just jab into the ground. Has anybody tried these, or other products, or should I just bite the ever lovin bullet for the PPs?

You might be alright with a stick in a lake or river with a soft bottom but would be worthless in a rocky bottom

I have used both and will have Power Poles on all of my boats in the future. They hold better and I can deploy both of them at the same time from anywhere in the boat.
