I need help with rod holders....I have an aluminum flat bottom boat, currently has BPS plastic rod holders, but they wont hold a catfish rod, the plastic gears strip allowing the tip of the pole to fall in the water. here is what I currently have BPS rod holder Any ideas on a different style? I like the ones made like this, but I cant do a bottom mount like this.. Rod holder 2

Have you checked Bee-Ready/Pro Angler? http://www.beereadys.comI know they're not the same setup, but they're great!

I have driftmasters on the gunnels, and three sets of four Bee readys I can plug in on the stern and bow when needed. I like the versatility of the Bee Readys since you can mount them just about any way you want to.

I looked at those BPS rod holders and walked away from them pretty quick, they didn't appear to be durable enough, when I got my boat this past spring it had the same style of rod holders but they were the cabelas heavy duty brand and I've been very happy with them, I've caught plenty of big fish on them and have had no problems, I also have some of the rod holders that I purchased on eBay that are similar to drift master and those have been great too.

I agree with MJ. We put the Cabelas ones on and they have held up. They are called the 360HT's. They are basically the same as Scott. Here is a link to them cabelas rod holder

A little expensive? Bee Readys have a lifetime warranty as well. I prefer them because they are low profile and aren't in the way.

I have driftmaster pro duo's 55 here is a shot of my 20/72 jon boat There 1/2 inch and have had plenty of big blues pulling down and staying down......personally I believe every one should consider getting a rod holder that is built very very strong....in case you fallout you got something to grab that will hold YOU and not just a fish
If it ain't broke don't fix it...but go ahead and work on it anyway.....
