Wonder why no Penn reels mentioned? Are they not any good these days? A Penn 109 used to be the only reel that would hold up to the sand in the water fishing Red River when I was a kid.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

A nine foot spinning rod built off a 7 wt fly rod blank. No one builds them, so I build them. Honestly I find that rod & reel get in the way, slows me down, too cumbersome. Exploring ancient handlining instead.
As I've been drifting I've noticed that holding the line in hand, I can detect way more bites than just holding the rod or even using a float. Also I find that adding a float lessens the sensitivity as well. All you know that I make sensitive floats, and they are great in shallow water conditions when anchoring far off to make long casts into the shallows. It's as sensitive and long casting as it gets.
The problem I find with floats and rod is that by the time the float twitches or the tip bends, that's after the fact. Fishy has already decided he's going all in or going elsewhere. In other words there's just too much delay.
After drifting in open, deep and clear water, nothing is more sensitive than holding line in hand. Which makes me question the need for a rod and reel in the first place, at least for this scenario. Wonder how that rig holds up on Arrowhead or Twok on 100+ fish days. With 165lbs on 5 fish lol Pro Angler M w/ 6500's or Pro Angler MH with 6500's for heavy cover/Flathead fishing. Ugly Stik Lite INS 7' M with 5500's for punch bait.

Try shipping something that is one piece and 7.5' long. For some reason the crappie rods have free shipping and not the catfish.

I wondered that as well, and looked again and the Crappie rods are two piece. That's the only thing I can think of.

Yup, it is very expensive to ship one piece rods over 6'. I don't ship them unless someone really wants them and is willing to pay the additional packaging, and shipping.
