Got skunked on Braunig today. First time on the lake. Any area that looked like it might have held fish was less than 2 ft deep. Fished rip rap along dam, nothing. Anyone know a secret about this place? Way too shallow for fishing this time of year.

Fish tremble at the mention of my name.

I beg to differ. I've heard great things about Braunig, but like many, I have never actually been on the lake. I hear it's a great spot for the middle-of-the-weeker's that can get away and do some fishing.

FELT and heresay are two completely different things, you friggin OKIE!

My personal OPINION of the lake is trash.....hence why I have never launched my boat in its waters. What I've HEARD about the lake is actually the opposite.

But thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Gosh....teach a man to fish and he hangs you out to dry in public. Is this how you shoud be treating your mentor??? huh?

Go sit in the corner and don't come out until I call you.

I went one time with my boat try a plastic worm on the east side of the jetty around the second light pole. dark colers work well just Tx. rig or C rig.

You guys are right Braunig sucks for Bass fishing. Actually right now is the best time to fish braunig because usually the big girls bed 1st to 3rd full moon of the year. This Lake has some chunks that can be caught fishing way off the bank on breaklines in structure. A buddy of mines bought an old tracker that had some really cool old maps that are no longer made, one of which was Braunig. For some real fun Target the reeds with tubes, craws or jigs 1/2oz or 3/4oz. You have a good chance of catching atleast 5 fish that will go 30+lbs! 2 years ago a BassSlayer caught 5 for 40lbs in January! Last year my other buddy had two 7's an 8 and lost a double digit in about 4 hours! You guys have no idea what your missing.

Easy trump don't be bad mouthing my lake. You have to get off the bank and learn to fish deep structure. Backside of jetty between 2nd and 3rd light pole is good. Just look for the drop. Also try a 12in worm in june bug or black. All of the bass I catch are 5 or better. 40lbs not to uncommon if you find the right sweet spot. Trump give me a call before next amistad tourney.

Also post this question on the local San Antonio Fishing forum. Might get additional information:

Good Luck...I have never fished that lake.
