Most people don't book trips on Tawakoni to fill their freezers. Most people want the experience of catching a trophy sized blue. 90% of the people are happy with catching a few trophy blues and about 10 eaters. So to answer your question...I KNOW people will still travel an hour to come fish tawakoni. I don't see why your so opposed to the new regulation, give it some time and see what happens. But saying you are going to target big fish on purpose seems to me like your just trying to stir the pot. Never in a million years would you hear a bass fisherman say he's going to try an target/keep all the big fish he can because TPWD passed a slot to try and better the future of a lake! Most people don't like the bass boys but they've done a great job in protecting their sport/fish. Now it's time to take catfishing from backwoods to mainstream (no pun intended) flag
What I said above is just a long version of " no min. Length, useless..."

Your lens of view from your boat is drastically DIFFERENT from my view on the bank, which is nearly 100% catfish anglers catch fish to eat.

I don't subscribe to big money LMB fishing industry that's why I don't do the green fish things... My catfish angling experience is SPORT + FILETS to bring home, not strictly CPR. My interests are DIFFERENT than yours, and I'll shoot strait with you here. I'll target the two overs because it will bring me more filets than the dinks + the five. It has to be intentional target because you fish for dinks with a zebco combo and bobber, I am not into that and the five 4 or 5 lbers doesn't pay for my gas expenses... This is just on my personal $ level, but I also have other reasons to target big cats, it's too late for any debate now. You get your regulations that suit your interests, I do what I can to protect mine... ZERO SUM GAME.

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

Folks should feel glad TP&W is initiating talks. They could very easily just keep on keeping on. At least you are given a chance to speak your minds.

If they don't protect these big fish soon it won't take long before they are gone. The lake has suffered tremendously over the last 7 years. There are still a ton of big fish in there but not like there was 7 years ago. 25 big fish worth of filets couldn't be eaten by an army in one sitting! The regulation they proposed would be plenty of meat for anyone! If it's not then there are still plenty of lakes that will allow u to catch 25 of any size. Good luck with your quest to catch 2 big fish, I hope the meat doesn't get freezer burnt!

I'm gonna miss her....

Smoky, there were at least 3 threats pushed for regulations that I have participated, nothing you said was new... the two biologists were invited to join in but they didn't...

Lake Tawakoni is my favorite lake to fish for years... I ain't going anywhere...

Used to give credits to TPWD for great job on TWOK, not any more with this new Twok regulations.

The only component that makes sense is 2 fish over 30", the rest are just stupid.

I'll leave you with these quotes

THE MOST TERIFYING WORDS IN THE ENGLISH DICTIONARY ARE, I AM FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND I AM HERE TO HELP.

THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT THE SOLUTION, THE GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM.

So we'd have 18 with no minimum, a 20-30" slot on 5 others, with 2 more over that slot? That's the way to keep it simple TPWD!

Seriously, after thinking it through, I could get on board with this proposal. Getting the average fisherman to understand why they will have to deal with 3 different regulations on one stringer of fish might be a taller hurdle to jump though.

I read it to say the limit would be 25 fish under 20" which will make the folks that fish for food happy. I don't think it will be hard to understand, only problem will be those that won't follow the law anyway.

2 over 30 is easy to spot. Especially at the fillet tables. Easy to make a call

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I disagree with all but the only 2 over 30 inches rule because who wants to keep a fish under 12 inches if they put the no minimum length limit and only five fish in the 20 to 30 inch slot is stupid one because those are the best filleting size fish that you want to keep and two because the lake Tawakoni catfish population isn't even suffering one bit. I agree with the only 2 fish over 30 inches and but the rest I think is unnecessary
