It's been a year or so since we were there last, but Caso-Rio on the Riverwalk was pretty good. We have eaten there twice now. The first time was very good and reasonably priced. The second time it was pretty expensive and I think that we had the same thing both times! Hmmmm... Margaritas were really good from what I remember...

Hole in the Walls on the South Side!! AWESOME FOOD AND UNBELIEVABLE SERVICE!!
I will never skin another possum, de-horn another cow, or barr another hog-----everything else is price negotiable!

Here are my two cents from a mexican,
A good place for mexican food in sanantonio is TACO TOTE off I-10 and Wuzbach. The best fajita, chicken fajita, bean & cheese, quesadilla, breakfast tacos you can find. You gotta try, you will know it is good because it is full of people like me(MEXICANS). Plus the have an awesome salsa bar. This is just an over-priced Taco Cabana. The food really isn't very good. It is, however, better than Taco Bell. Jaclala, Janitzio's and Rosario's have been mentioned. I would add Los Barrios to that list. Hole in the wall places are a dime a dozen, and most are pretty good.

+1 for Rosarios. They have the best refried beans I've had and I spend more time in Mexico than Texas. Griselda's Tacos are my favorite dish and the salsa can't be beat.

Robles, I live here and there are better places than mi tierra, but it is a good place to visit once. Try Rosario's, Pico De Gallo, Paloma Blanca, Acenar(Favorite). And don't forget to try the micheladas at these places too.

I'm a big fan of Casa Rio down on the river walk.

La Fonda - Oak Hills (just off Fredricksburg, outside Loop 410)
The BEST fish taco! It's crispy fried red snapper, wrapped in a homemade flour tortilla with chipolte tartar sauce. Try it, you'll love it and besides the restaurant was designed by S.A.'s most famous architect,O'Neal Ford, and has classic San Antonio atmosphere.

I have to agree with Raptor, I like Chuy's. The southwestern enchiladas are awesome.
Fish tremble at the mention of my name.

My favorite, Paloma Blanca on Broadway. Great food, great atmosphere and not touristy.

For hole in the wall Garcia's on fredricksburg, Johnnys on New braunfels & IH35. Gringos is OK. Has anyone tried Henry's Puffy Taco's on Bandera, must be good they're always packed. La Fogata, Margaritas, Jacala, pico de gallo are all great as far as food quality. Has anyone tried salsalitos?

I'm interested to hear about Henry's Puffy Tacos. The wife and I are always looking for great puffy tacos.

You can throw a rock in any direction, while in San Antonio and hit good mexican food. Come out to Helotes,TX, just outside of loop 1604 and San Antonio on highway 16, and visit El Chaparral. This place has the best overall atmosphere, food, service, and drinks than any place that I have every visited. There are restaurants that have better one dish items, but overall El Chaparral is the best.Order the PUNTAS DE FILETE EN CHILE CHIPOTLE 15.99 Tenderloin tips sauteed in a hot and spicy chipotle sauce, served with spanish rice, refried beans and guacamole salad. That dish is freakin' awesome.
