I knew I had taken pictures a couple of years ago when I started enhancing all of our baits and jig heads with UV, but it took me awhile to find the right SD card. I took these photos in the old Finny Tribe building with a little help from Jigum, so that we could get an idea of what the fish were seeing under the water. Now, a few years later, I think that UV enhancements are most helpful in dark water conditions, and on cloudy days. Generally speaking, shallower water, actively feeding fish won't really care about UV and scents, but every little bit helps. UV enhanced Thump Buddies, from left to right: the two on the left are the Live Wire color, then you have Blazin Raisin, followed by Crazy Thunder Chicken, and finally CR Special.

Mr Palmer, are you aware of any tests done on how UV enhanced baits look in the deeper water?

Hey Rod, I can make custom Thump Jumpers in any color you like, and every bait that comes out of our doors is UV enhanced and scented. Just send me a PM if this is something you're interested in, and I'll make sure to get you taken care of.
Roman, I do not have any pictures/certified tests, I am strictly basing my results off of using them professionally, and assuming that with less sunlight penetration in deeper water, anything to help collect more UV rays will help fish see, and hopefully take the jig.

UV enhancements and scent enhancements...do they help; I don't know for sure, but what I do know for sure is that they don't hurt. I find it interesting that some folks need scientific proof that something works. If you think it helps, then it bolsters your confidence in what you're using and how you're using it, and believe me, in crappie fishing confidence is what makes presentation work, and presentation is everything in crappie fishing. You will never know if something will help you until you try it, scientific proof availability or not. A UV enhanced jig head or jig body 'may' cost you and extra penny or two per. A bottle of scent might cost you $5 or $6. Is either too much to pay to find out if something will help you catch more crappie?? If it is; you're in the wrong sport. Save your money for more important things.

I'm going to put emphasis in what Guy emphasized "If your confident that something works for you, you'll fish it more proficiently and catch more fish!"

I have took part in some of the test on UV, color, and flash. All I can tell you is there is no two waters in Texas that is the same so it is hit and miss on all of them. But they all do have there day. As for as scents in my on use I think the descent of the jig does help as a crappie does fear man.

The Crappie Guy, reason I'm asking is that I have read some were ,that fish can only see to certain depth, after that they can only feel movement of fish or bait. I'm very new to crappie fishing,so I read this forum, books and trying to learn from you and others.

Roman, not taking a shot at you by any means. I'm just trying to emphasize that in this thing called crappie fishing, it (whatever 'it' is) only works if you have confidence that it will work. Personally, I don't use anything that I do not have confidence in....and I have confidence in UV and scents on jigs, even though they don't always produce more fish.
