Do ya'll get angry as He77 like some of the other folks on here when someone names a lake / spot they fish??? The Dannnnnnnn Duckhunters SISSIes are the worst the cry and won't someone to be banned from the site if you even name a lake much less a creek or area.Just wondering?

I think you are comparing apples to oranges somewhat. Where in fishing you can have several boats fish a school (sandbass, striper, etc.) You can't have several duckhunters all in the same hole. You have to get out to scout for where the ducks want to be. The same as fishing somewhat BUT you can't have the same number of people in that hole AND you spent the time to find it, you sure don't want people posting up the exact location for all the cyberscouters to read about.
I also suspect if you were to slowly cruise by some of the regular Crappie fishermen on this site and start posting up the GPS coordinates of their brushpiles, they might take offense to that as well.

I name lots of places that I fish. Atleast I name it for myself and my buddies so that when I am telling my buddies about them they will know about it. I know some places like these: the iron wall, Tennis courts, Long ridge, Sailboat point, sunken island, and I also know of docks like these: Purple dock, super dock, super dock 2, mcphersons dock, white dock, garage dock and satelite dock. I also fish brush piles like these: jig eater pile, willow tree #1, willow tree#2, short dock pile, nebraska dock pile, & dam pile 1,2,3, & 4. Now if a guy were to start giving off gps coords of these docks and brush piles I bet some people might just get a bit steamed. Especially if they were brush piles. (but not me ofcourse!)

quackinator, It is much worse than you think. In two years of reading the hunting "migratory" forum I have never seen anyone name a "spot" on a lake they duck hunt other than usually false info done in fun or done in spite after being insulted. What jigghead refers to is simply nameing a "lake" one hunts in a post. Especially the large lakes near the DFW area like Ray Roberts or Texoma. Often such a post brings out a frenzy of sharks. Not so bad lately, but often it brings out the trolls with an agenda waiting to pounce.

I would agree about the overkill on lake name alone IF it is one of the major lakes around the Metroplex. That, I agree is a bit over the top when everone knows they are regular lakes for duck hunting be it quality or not. I don't think it is as much over the top if you are naming smaller out of the way lakes, especially if you are naming it but you hunt private. OR, you start giving out exact locations on those lakes. Sort of throwing other guys under the bus especially when you have nothing to lose or are too naive to realize that you tell the cyber world that you had a great hunt at spot X and give directions and post photos of the hole. Don't be surprised in that case if you find a bunch of Barney's in your hole the next time or at the very least a traffic jam at the boat ramp. I don't follow the forum you are referring to as much as a couple of others where I have seen examples of all the cases I have mentioned.
Again, I would agree that pounding on a guy because he said he heard there were ducks on Ray Bob is a bit much. I also would be one of the first to state that some folks are WAY to paranoid when it comes to their duck hunting. I do see an interesting difference between the duck hunting sites and the fishing sites. People are a lot more laid back over here, not as quick to jump on a guy, quick to offer help and probably a lot less likely to develop an ulcer over something that is suppose to be a sport to have fun with.

Well, let me help you fellas out before internet PO PO gets on to y'all. I fish Harbor Bay crappie house (Ray Hubbard). I'm pretty much a "Thump Junkie" there are several of us that know where every tree and branch is in there. (well almost) But we have all settled on our own "holes" that actually get all the way to the bottom. And yes, they are named, but in reference to y'alls statements earlier, for the sake of not Rockin the barge I ain't gonna tell, you have to be there your self. I really enjoy fishing out there, and listening to a good story every now and then.

I read a post on hear in the BASS area i think and someone was getting lambasted because they said where and when they caught fish in the tourney on Lake lewisville I believe it was.I just wondered if everyone was gonna be that way.I posted on the Migratory one day not being a duck hunter i said where i had seen some ducks on a lake and I got gut shot and hog tied in one sentence.

i have posted exact locations for tawakoni sandies, hybrids and stripers for the past two years and even posted when the crappie came in the boat slips at anchor inn during last years' spawn i have not had time to put out too many crappie condos (yet-but I will)- what I will not do is post a location someone else gave me in specific terms (only a general area like tallman, the white stripe, wolf cove---) I figure the lake has plenty of fish and is not crowded at all- if it gets crowded, maybe i will stop giving exact locations
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Jigghead,
Just like the duckhunters, you will have some bass guys that get really hot when someone reveals some detailed fishing info, especially on a lake with an upcoming bigger tourney. Others are just like some of the duckhunters that say, you still have to go out and compete against the fish. I would agree that fishing tends to be a little different in the amount of boats you can get in an area compared to hunters.
I tend to be general in my descriptions, but don't mind emailing or pm'ing about specifics as long as my tourney is over if it is bass fishing. If it is crappie, I am just there for the fun and filets, so I tend to be more specific except for GPS coor. to a bursh pile, which I don't know as many as I would like. Coach

If you are not willing to share with the whole world wide web then don't post specific info. I am as guilty as sin in giving awy too much information but it really hasn't mattered much IMHO because most people won't or can't put in the effort required even if given exact instructions.... you can lead a horse.....etc...

Duck hunters should NEVER EVER name a lake and especially a particular area of a lake. I have seen several lakes that had no pressure and excellent hunting get ruined for the season by internet publicity. They went from 2-3 boats at the ramp on a regular basis to over 30 boats.
I relax a little more with my fishing and posting. You don't have to be so careful. Exchanging fishing reports kinda helps everybody out.
A hunting lake without publicity is like your favorite lake on a weekday evening, sandbass surfacing everywhere and no other boats in site. Let the "limits of mallards" slip out and it turns into Lake Fork on a saturday in March.
