My old hauling solution does not fit my new F150 standard cab. I'm headed to Caprock SP on Friday and want to take my 15 ft sea kayak. Anyone know where I can get a foam block?

Academy sells some roof systems. I am not sure about just a foam block though. Might be better off hauling it in the bed of the truck tied down well. Be sure to use a flag!

Yeah, I think you're right. Driving about 250 miles each way. Wonder if home depot sells an "official flag"

Some auto parts stores have the red flags. I've been using an old red t-shirt.

I have seen red flags in Home Depot. Also need to be careful if driving at night since you might be required to have lights also.

I don't know where you are located but Mountain Sports in Arlington has some very good Red Flags. They are tough. I have used one for over a year and it is still going strong.

I bought a bed extender from Amazon -- less than $200.00, very well-built and sturdy. Easy to attach (even with one person and holds the thing very still.
One caveat -- buy some means of padding for the extender. Right now I'm using pool noodles secured by bungees.

I've seen 'em at Academy and Bass Pro Shops. Mariner Sails might have them.

You can buy a bed extender from Harbor Freight Tools for about $50. I have lights on mine so it's legal any time. You can get the lights and wiring needed at HF also for about $20.

I don't know where you are located but Mountain Sports in Arlington has some very good Red Flags. They are tough. I have used one for over a year and it is still going strong. As an opposition to the special purpose flags that you can get from Mountain Sports, they also have nylon flat "rope" that's bright red. I much prefer to use it, as it's far more robust than an eyelet through a high surface area flag that wants to rip itself off your car (which I've had happen with one of the flags). Just some food for thought. *EDIT* This stuff... http://www.mountainsports.com/MSmain.asp?Option=Detail&Detail=096401
