Hey anglers, this lake is fishing pretty good right now. My last few trips have produced some good numbers, somewhere between 40 to 50 bass. Nothing big, a few fours in the mix, mostly 2 lb. fish, that's it. But if you want to go enjoy a fun day of catching with a friend, I would definitely fish this lake. With the average fish being smaller, I found fishing with light tackle to enhance my fishing experience. But the chew is on. The fish are very healthy and chunky. Great time to catch a bunch and have fun.

If you don't mind sharing, what are some patterns that work for you out there?
Myself, I have a habit of going out there and chunking worms around the timber or cranking by the dam. I did some cranking around the intake a couple weeks ago with little success. I did catch a nice one on my last trip out with a deep crankbait over some submerged timber in the middle of the lake, but for the last several months nowhere near the numbers you posted since spring.

Any flats with grass dropping off into creek channles. I found a few spots that have a six foot drop off at edge of the grass and fish are up on the flats an at the drop off. Fishing very light weight T/R 4 inch plastic. Flukes are working great at this time as well. Small split shot sinker a foot up will get you bit in a hurry. Two pound fish with some threes in the mix. Cloudy days seem to be the best and late moring bite, like around tenish is fish on. We have had them hitting it on the drop. Several double hook ups to boot. Fun times right now, get it while it's on.

Primary points in about ten feet are good right now as well. I have not found a good crank bait bite, but small plastic with a little gold flake in it, plus adding a chartreuse tipped tail is on fire.

Oh yeah, a would spray the plastic with some garlic too. They take off with it. Gotta love watching your line just take off.

I am not real familiar with Fayette, but have fished there 3 times in the last couple months. I can catch 5 to 8 fish in the morning, usually on points, but it dries up for me in the afternoon. Do the fish go deeper on points, or possibly drop down in the channels after the morning bite. I have been using rattletraps and swimbaits. I have also tried roadbeds with carolina rigs with 4 to 7" worms. Any ideas where a person would look after the morning bite?

In the afternoons get in a cove and fish the stumps just off the creek channels with worms and Senkos

I have fished this lake for many years and there are times when the bite just stops all together. I can't even graph a fish. I'm like, ok, where in the world did they go. But I'll move around and find one here and one there. I wish I had a good answer to your question, but they throw me for flip every now and then as well. I find just enough action to keep me on the lake till the sun goes down.
