I would have six if I didn't have a scale. I broke the mark this year and the week before my Dad broke it on Palestine crappie fishing.

All weighed on either certified scales or boga grips. I consider myself very fortunate to fish where lots of DD's live and to have had the time to put in on the water. I don't get to fish as much as I used to (and I'm not nearly as mad at them) so it may be a long time before I catch another DD.

I'm sure these guys must have caught several billion bass to have that type of record. Sorry I ment several trillion bass. Then there is the issue of hours on the water. That's a lot of work. Think of what your sun tan oil bill would be. You wouldn't have time to get a hair cut. Think of how many eyes in you rod you would wear out.

So all you guys that catch tons of DD all make KVD look like a joke. Why don't all of you go on the road with the big boys and make the big bucks with all the fame? You guys can blow them away with your heavy stringers. Sounds like it would be easy for you. roflmao

Fishing for DD bass is a different game than just fishing or tournament fishing, IMO.
I used to only catch one or two fish a year that were over 24" until I started fishing for big fish.
Last year I had 16 fish over 24" with 2 DD and this year 11 fish over 24" with 1 DD, Location of where you fish and where you put your bait is at least 75% of the puzzle. Time on the water, technique and a few other things make up the balance mixed in with whole lot of luck.
And yes my fish were weighed on a Boga.

Most of the guys with big numbers of DD's freely admitted many of them came from highly managed private waters. I'm not sure what you are so skeptical about. Comparing what these guys can produce on private waters to what KVD produces on the trail is apples to oranges.

I don't see what the big deal is. I catch DD bass on nearly every outing. Last weekend, I boated seven fish over 10 ounces, and I'm hoping to do the same this weekend. It's the triple-digit ones that seem to be so elusive...

What an infantile statement. I haven't heard anyone say that they could make KVD look like a joke. I haven't caught billions nor trillions of bass. But I've caught a helluva lot of DD's because I fish where they live and target those fish specifically. Plus I'm 55 and have been at this a few years.

Shoot, I don't even know where the small ones live most of the time!

I am one of the Old School fisherman that Slade talks of. I not only have not kept up with the numbers and am the worlds worst about taking pictures of the big girls especially back in the old days. Jump forward to the last 20 years where pictures and scales have become important to customers these are the numbers I could come up with out of my boats. Added these are not all my catches but most were.
Went through all the records and albums last couple of days but I know there were many before this time period.
- Mexico 73 over 10 lbs. just out of my boat.
- U.S. lakes 27 over 10 lbs., either me or my partner.
- 00 from private waters.

I would love to turn my attention to Private Waters; but can't afford to make several trips on my own to figure it out. Would like for someone to step forward to go with that has the experience. It's not about the money as much as it is about being productive on a trip.

QUESTION:
How many of these private lakes furnishes a guide?

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

I know Joe Pool to have 10's in it but I am much more likely to get one at Fork first given I fish both lakes on a regular and equal basis.

I know an older guy that fishes Pool religiously and rarely goes anywhere else. He is a structure fisherman and old school, he has shown me pictures of several DD fish he caught out there, all out deep. There are some big fish in that lake. Dustin Hobbs catches 7-8# fish regularly but I'm not sure if he has caught a DD out there. Ken would know.

Hobbs has if I'm not mistaken. Definitely deep water too

Yes Dustin has one DD from JP. 10.xx on a jig. Weighed at the Oasis and released.
He has caught a bunch of 8's & 9's out there. That boy can catch a bass in a bath tub!

The owner of Cam Bell guides you. You fish out of his boat. Don't know about the others.
