I have 5 over 10.
1 at Sugoi Lakes in Mineola on a jig(really do not count it though) 1 at Richland Chambers on a squarebill 3 at Fork. One off a shallow dock pitching, one on a bed near LFM and the last one on a hollow body frog.

I caught one many years ago in the Glade off a bed. My claim to fame however is that I have caught three big nines in three different states. And a few more nines afterwards here.
When I was young I used to live on a 35 acre lake that had lots of big bass. Every year for fifteen years I caught at least 10 8's or bigger. After I moved a kid caught a big 25" off of my dock. It was just a pig factory.

(3) and all on the same day at Camelot Bell four years ago.....held the record for (5) @ 54.75 lbs. until Dr JL upped it with the (5) for 55 even.
Biggest recorded in a public lake is 8.5 with quite a few 8's. Caught what I am pretty sure was a 10 at Fork last May but did not have a scale with me at the time so I don't count it. I keep fishing for them though and enjoy every single fish I catch, regardless of the size.

No DDs for me yet, just got my own boat though so I think my odds will go up. Have caught a couple over 8, one being during Sealys, too bad it was a slot. Still hunting, ill get one eventually!

I have been lucky to get a lot of the really big ones. I have 13 fish over 13 - all but two from Bell. Of those, 5 over 14 including a 15.25 and a 15.50. I have 2 over 13 from public with a 14.60 my public pb. I have dd bass from AlanHenry, Fork, Sam Rayburn, and Falcon, plus Pvt stuff. My first dd was at age 22- I won the 8th McDonald's tourney at Sam Rayburn with that fish and it is still a wonderful memory. I did a sight fishing battle with the 14.60 at Alan Henry that was an amazing memory for me. I caught three dd on the same day on beds at fork in 2010/ great day! At bell my five fish one day is actually 55lb even. I had an evening/morning with Frazier when we got ten over ten but all like less than 12. You need to write a book! Incredible.

I know it's not real common, but I think it's more common than we realize. The vast majority of DDs that are caught we never hear about.
I know an old guy that fishes Ivie religiously, I've personally seen him pick up a trotline with 2 DDs on it at the same time. He just cusses to himself and throws them back. We asked him if he minded if we weighed those two bass that day and he said "you can have them". One was 10.3 and one was 10.6. Caught on goldfish.
And yes, I know we aren't talking about trotlining. But a lot more people catch DDs than we realize.

The percentage is low for sure, really depends on location and the health of the fishery you frequent. I lived up North all my life, my PB was 5 pounds. Moved to Texas and started fishing here in 2012, I've got 3 from Lake Austin. I also targeted them with big baits, fishing deep water, man they are fun to catch, I've definititely lost a few as well. My PB was in a tournament, part of a 46# best 5 that day, even better was that it won me some dough.
Right place, right time, with some luck and some help from the big guy upstairs.
Kyle in NC
PB 11.1

I think they are there but to catch one on artificials is not common. Even on Toledo where there were 80plus caught last year when you factor in how many of those were caught on live bait and the number of tournaments and daily pressure that is a very small % when you consider how healthy the lake is.

I've had 14 DD's. 4 out of private waters if those count. A few of the public lakes those came out of are: Ivie, Hubbard Creek, Squaw Creek, Ray Bob, Leon, Amistad, Waco & Stillhouse. Biggest bass I've ever hooked and seen was on Eagle Mountain. Me too. All of that plus one are maybe two. Trust me.
TAKE A PHOTO HOME NOT THE FISH. CATCH AND RELEASE Set the hook first and ask questions later.

1 so far for me out of Fork back in the early 90s. that's what makes me look forward to every fishing trip on Fork. Your next cast could be a new state Record .
