Honesty, there are days I decide to stay home because the wind isn't blowing.

I fish texoma alot out of an 18 footer best advice I can give is either launch close to where you wanna fish and if that's not an option hug the bank the wind is coming from. 15mph wind from the north fish the north side of the lake

10-15 mph wind is calm in Texas. If you're having trouble in that much wind, spring is going to be a nightmare.

Fishing windblown points, banks and the like can be very productive but it's definitely a fight with 2 to 3 ft waves crashing in. If you always avoid fishing rough water areas you are potentially missing out on some good catches. This, Until you surrender this time of year

Yeah I know that is the norm pretty much around here. I just am getting tired of either not being able to fish where I want due to wind or fighting it all the time blowing me around. I think my TM is a 65lb motor. Might be time to look for an upgrade. I can't keep calling off trips because of wind, I realize I'm missing a lot of prime action. I just know in the past trying to run the lake to get to fishing spots and then trying to fish in high wind is not much fun.

All you need is a MK Terrova or a MGx15, depending on the brand you like. The anchor lock system on these TMs are worth their weight in gold if you fish all-the-time and want to fish in the wind. Before I got my Terrova I hated going out in the wind. Today, the wind is my friend.

I backlash more fishing into the wind. I know where you're coming from, I have a 17' boat with a 125Merc and have been on Texoma and Sam Rayburn in wind that I didn't want to go out in. Just have to find a pocket and pretend that is the entire lake. Figure them out in that pocket and then see if the pattern holds in the next pocket.
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together

Me? I have a little fiberglass boat. I go out in any kind of weather. I just put the trolling motor on high and hang on. I run the bilge A LOT! When I run across open water in 3 ft white caps, I even pray and cuss in the same breath. Lol.
When I fish, I worry about what I can control. The weather (wind, rain, temp) is not one of them. That's why the boat has different speeds on the trolling motor and a great set of pumps. Frogg Toggs help a little too.
Unfortunately, some of the best, repeatable, patterns is wind blown points. Sometimes it does get a little dicey. Haha. But wear a life jacket and strap down the rods. Lol.

I probably have less than an hour of battery life with the trolling motor on constant high.

I ran my TM batteries dead on my Champion 181 with a 24V 80# all the time
I have a 188 now with a 36V and it is amazing!
Get another battery and a new TM if you can
