Thanks everyone I'm opting for the vinegar and water in the live wells, that shouldn't kill

I consider the scum line to be a "racing stripe" and therefore it is a permanent fixture on my boat. grin

In regards to the ring, the best & easiest stuff I have ever used is Davis FSR. It is seriously a wipe on hose off application and will amaze you how off white your gelcoat is. Link below....

Go to Walmart and buy the toilet bowl cleaner called "The Works". Give the cashier a $5 and be sure to thank them when you get $3 back.

Seriously, I was turned onto it about 10 years ago from another forum and it removes the scum effortlessly. Spray it on, and the scum will wipe off easy. Good luck.
