 Quantum Hellcat Reel Problem

I have a Quantum Hellcat reel its about 1 month old and it has started not working right. I cast out and when I reel it the spool does not engage it's like the gears are out of wack. What is going on here?

Take it back and get a new one.
Maybe the clutch is stuck and will not allow it engage.

Got it at Academy and was the only one they had I bet they don't have any for me to exchange for.
