Cool. I looked into it more. Looks like for the Gen2 version, you need the separate module in the link but the Gen3 units have the wireless built in. This is potentially quite interesting.

I looked at some demos of GoFree and Lowrance on YouTube. It looks like you can only mirror the HDS screen on the tablet versus having the chart display on the tablet and have sonar and downscan running on the HDS unit for example. I was hoping it was more than just a screen mirror. If anyone knows for sure that you can have something different display on the tablet versus just mirroring the HDS display, let me know how you can do that.

Interesting. So, does that mean with a HDS 7 you could connect a 10" tablet and display maps, sonar, or side scan windows on the tablet?

Some of the Garmins do this also but I don't know if the 93v does or not.
I have a 1040xs and love it.

I have a Garmin 7612XSV touch screen in my console and it has wifi so you can see my Ipad on front deck in a lifeproof case and a ram mount. The ipad not only views whats on the Garmin but also controls it too. I love it.

Hey Garmin guys who have used HB, is the side imaging and down imaging really that much better? I'm considering a switch.

Glory be, my GPS worked today on my 598. I lost the charts menu and the gps didn't connect. For some reason, it was back today.

I will still plan on moving forward with replacing it, but at least I don't have do it it in a hurry. Thanks for all the responses to date! Interesting to see how quickly Garmin is building a following.

Voltage issues can cause that.

Yep. Found that when I was doing troubleshooting. I had the unit power piggy backed off another hot wire but changed it to a direct wire to the battery with no change after the wiring change. Worked today, so I hope it continues.

If I remember right they were both for sale and the HB just sold first.
