If you have them already keep them. Just make sure they fit you comfortably...

I started with the H2O Express from Academy, I sprayed on Scotch Guard every season and they worked fine....I won a set of Gortex and use them now...they work great.

not if you want to stay dry

I think $400 is the minimum for top and bottom total you can spend and be confident you will be dry in all conditions

Gotta go with Wackattack, at those prices, I'd almost rather be wet.

I have been using the Simms Pro Dry suit for 4 years. Fish hard and have spent many days in nasty weather. This suit is well worth the money. I have an old Simms guide jacket going on12 yrs and still performs like the day I got it. When it comes to staying dry and comfortable for 12 hours on the deck in rain you better have gore-tex. Simms adds many features that is undoubtedly worth the investment. Their customer service is awesome and like that they want you to see a retailer so you can get fitted correctly. Heck if you buy 3 less expensive suits because they wear out and leak in every couple years why not invest and get the performance while staying comfortable. You get what you pay for.

I am with you, I found my Cabelas Guide wear in the bargain cave, could not tell that it was ever used, 300 for the bibs and parka.

I have the Guide Wear also and have used it in pretty cold weather up north while working. It was -7 in Northern Illinois one morning and had my suit on outside and stayed very warm. As the day went on I got a little warm and needed to open the jacket up, it was 11 degrees outside.
It works very well for me, but I just use it for cold on the boat. Cold and wet, I'm not that mad at them anymore. Mine are 7 years old and have no problems.

I think that we as anglers buy what we can afford. There is always good-better-best in almost everything we shop for and I like most shop when I can find a deal on what I need. Truth is over the last 7 years, fishing 25-30 weekends a year I have worn mine in rain 5 or 6 times. Where they do excel is at blocking wind when fishing/driving the boat in the winter.
Last week I bought a set of the new H2O expresss at Academy. The new set is black, and from what I can see they made some big improvement over the previous line and the prices are reasonable and they run on-line specials from time to time.

I just can't see dropping that kind of cash on something that rarely comes out of the locker, I would rather spend it on gas and tackle.

Money is no object for me on anything and there is no way in hell I'd pay that for a rain suit.

For some of the prices I see on Simms waders and rain gear they should come standard with side imaging and down imaging on em. They are the best though I do agree

Paying 800.00 to stay warm, dry and on the water is much more important to me than a
new set up or graph. No brainer.

A high quality rainsuit will last a lot longer than a graph. I had my first Goretex suit for 10 years before I bought a new one
