I would be fishing coves strictly. Of course I'm not talking about 20mph wind days. I can't think of any other alternative because of hoa restrictions.

You should move somewhere without an HOA, then take the money you save on dues and what they say you have to buy to get a nice center console. But I would say the john would be OK as long as you're smart about it. Watch the weather, know your capabilities.
No fish is too good for the grease.

You should be fine if you take it safe. Lavon is closer...why not try that? I hear the crappie are biting good.

I fish the dam on my 14 footer. That said, I have fished the larger coves and I only go when the wind is blowing out of the south and less than 5mph. Some of the coves on the Oklahoma side are shallow and hold good fish. I always wear my pdf, always. I try to go when there is less boat traffic. I fish a lot a night. Be safe.

Thanks guys , I have a wife and kid to worry about. I should have moved to a non hoa area but my wife wanted a new home in a development and we all know what the wife wants she's gets. You should be fine if you take it safe. Lavon is closer...why not try that? I hear the crappie are biting good. lavon is closer but I love texoma! Even if I had moved to Princeton texoma would still be my home lake. I've fished lavon maybe twice so I don't know too much about it. It would be nice if I could find a boat that will fit in a garage , but I'm thinking about getting a slip out there somewhere

You can get dry boat storage also. Should be cheaper and you might want to visit other lakes. For a boat, look for one that has the folding tongue. That might give you a little more of an option to fit a smaller boat in the garage.
I hate HOAs and will never live in one. I'm not going to pay a group of people to tell me what I can and can't do on my own property.

I fish Texoma out of my float tube a lot. When the wind is light and coming out of the south I fish all along the shoreline from the dam through Eisenhower Park, all the coves and creeks included. You can also launch at several of the marinas and fish in the creeks.

YakAddict, come over to my house and I'll show you how it's done. I have a 17' boat in my garage and I fish Texoma regularly. I would like to have a bigger boat, but the one that I have is perfect for me. Send me a PM if you're interested. It is a bit of a pain to get her in the garage, but soooooooooooo worth it.
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together

With a south wind you will be fine. Just put in at the dam or Einsenhower and fish the bluffs and coves. Good smallies in that area and at the right time of the year stripes. I caught my largest stripe off of butterfly. You have to hope you do not get a sudden unexpected wind change. It happened to me one summer on Hubbard. Just out of the blue no storms at all.

Wind will not be the issue for you. It will be a big wake from a boat that will sink you. This year I was fishing on the point outside of Caney Creek in my Sea Eagle Foldcat when a big cabin crusier came out of the creek cove. I saw some big waves coming toward me, so I turned toward them. As the waves came onto the shallow water of that point, They got higher and higher until I estimate them at 12 feet. I thought that the waves would flip my boat but I rode over them. I live in an HOA in Allen and cannot fit my Tracker 175 TXW in my garage. I keep the aluminum boat at my lake house at PK but use the inflatable Foldcat when I fish here. I fish Texoma allot and a boat like this will be fine for one or two people. It will be much safer and fish better than a jon boat. It fits neatly into a small area of my garage and in the back of my Subaru Outback. I can't zip all over the lake like I would in the bigger boat but it sure beats fishing from the bank.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

A float tube could be safe if you use your brain. :-)

Fished Texoma numerous times in my 14 ft yak and never had much of a issue. Use common sense and beware of the many idiots out there. In the warmer months beware of the wakeboarders/skiers, who act like it is a game to flip you, show off or both.

boat hut is 250$ every 3months but that is for a 30' deep stall so could get one smaller for less

14 footer is a drownder on a lake. 14 footer is for frog hunting on small ponds or fishing on the same pond. Not large lakes. Please read this if your still alive and take the advise of a 70 year old that is alive to write it. Please.
TAKE A PHOTO HOME NOT THE FISH. CATCH AND RELEASE Set the hook first and ask questions later.

Decisions decisions!!! I won't be floating in a tube for sure , I don't know about the inflatable pontoon, I just couldn't see myself being happy for too long with it. I have a sit on top kayak which I wouldn't mind putting in but I need something with a motor!! Maybe I'll just get a slip and learn how to do the winterizing process and keep a boat at a slip. Stupid HOA!!!!
