I have talons cause they go 12ft and I don't have to worry about oil coating everything in the back of the boat if a hose fails

I bought an 8' talon from my very good friend for a deal so I went that route. Don't get me wrong it does the job. But I have also used pp and I'll say I like them better. Not as much noise, I think they preform a little better and I just flat out think they look cooler Look cooler? In the up or down position? Yes I think they may look a little better but who cares about looks when it comes to performance? They both perform the same.

As vain as it sounds: who does NOT care how something looks on their boat? Why do you wash and wax your boat and then say: I don't care how something looks as long as it works. For appearances I wish I hade NO PP's on the back of my boat but for function I like them. If I felt both brands were equal then I would prefer the PP's to a 6' section of rain gutter attached to the back of my boat. :-)

I can agree with that but I think a lot of people in the fishing world and beyond do things because they are cool. I imagine there are a lot of guys that do not use anchors but have them because they are cool. My statement was more for those people. A good looking boat is very nice but a good fishing boat is better.

Didn't get to go fishing.

Blades... Powerpole Customer Service is the best.... I had 2 small crakcs (cosmetic) on my covers on top of the blades.. I called CS in my boat, and was asked, have you registered them.. I responded with , NO, ive hade them for about a year.. He registered me on the phone, and said how long are you fishing? I repsonded with the rest of the week and the weekend.. So he shipped them to me next day at my camp, and I had them for the weekend.. Mind you for a cosmetic issue, they still worked fine.. I will never own anything but a powerpole.. Ive had them on my last 2 boats and love them..

I've had both and from my experiences the Talons are the only way to go. The first boat had 2 8ft Talons. They will hold you within 30 degrees of where you are pointing in the wind, you can put them both down beside the boat ramp dock and feel sure that it will stay there while you are getting your truck, has a rough water setting,.... I could go on and on. My last boat had 2 8ft blades. I set both down on a CALM day by the boat ramp walked up to get the truck and my boat floated off in 5' water. A light wind will blow your front end all the way with the wind. If you beach the front of your boat with Power Poles you can count on the back moving around if there are any waves. I even upgraded the software and no help. I did have the plastic cover on one of the poles break and they sent me another pole which was good. In my option the only way Power Poles would hold a 20ft boat is if you tied a rope around them and threw them over. If they hung up on a stump or rock they might hold. My new boat has 2 10ft Talons and they are great. Next time a guy is swearing by Power Poles ask him to put them down by the loading pier and walk away without tying it up. You will have to give him a ride out to his boat.

Im with Brandon on this one but talons have a advantage on being able to get the fold away brackets to get them in your garage....

Im with Brandon on this one but talons have a advantage on being able to get the fold away brackets to get them in your garage.... I just lightly tap the down button on my remote to lower them enough to get into the garage, no having to go back and dink around with any brackets. Thought I heard dirt and grit could get pulled up into the talon and ruin the insides.

I can't speak for the Talons. I have had now my 3rd set of Power Poles. I don't know of better user friendly company when it comes to anything on the PP. They are quick and they are out to please you. I love my PP.

Talons so far for me. . . No fluid. Quick install/deinstall. Like that poles deploy vertical when in stumps. Like extra reach 12ft give me. Like wireless belt remote & wireless foot switch. Like that I can deploy both or either individually. Like when they stick that you feel boat stern actually rise. Each 12' Talon weights 47lbs, for total weight of 94lbs. Found better price at the time, for 2 poles & brackets for about $3K. I can clean them on the water if ever needed by deploying 2-3 feet, then fast idling. Both can get the job done. And EVO X13/X20's seems to be another one entering this market segment. They are Talon techonology. X20 MSRP is $1499. Still have to be product released & proven. Here: http://www.evofishingtec.com/products/evo-x20/We'll see. . .

Talon: qualify my answer now. 1st bass rig, 1st shallow water anchor and 18' rig. I chose Talon for two other reasons as well: (1) fold over bracket, (2) 12' reach I could have chosen PP and had two ( room even with the boarding ladder I had added) but, one will do the job in conjunction with the future addition of Minn Kota Ulterra TM that with spot anchor feature will give me the two point anchor - if needed. So far, works effortlessly and flawless. Holds strong even in a 15mph or more wind.... It's a Ford vs Chevy argument.....Talon was just my choice, much like HB vs Lowrance .... As always, the final choice is yours to make. God Bless
