I have spent some frustrating time on Ray Hubbard over the past few weeks. Anyone doing any good?

For crappie I go to Lavon. White bass / Hybrid Ray Hubbard. Haven't been on either in awhile but good weather is coming!!

Been hitting it steady for the last month as boat traffic is has died down. Most of my trips have been averaging 12-15 solid fish with a about that many shorts. I'm targeting trees and brush in 20 plus feet of water and focus on fishing 12 to 17 feet down. Shad colored jig bodies seem to work best for me. Some days they want larger profile jigs like a Thump Chubby, other days smaller profiles seem to be the ticket. Last weekend they mouthed the jig on the fall, and I really had to watch my line. Week before they were smacking it when held still.

Man I have never been able to catch crappie on Hubbard. I see all that timber on the upper end of the lake and seldom see any boats. I gave up on trying to figure out Hubbard and head to Lavon or Tawakoni for my crappie fix.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like I've been doing it wrong. Been fishing the same colors and jigs, but too shallow. I appreciate the info. PM sent

Thump has it dead on. I caught 19 last Tuesday. watch your line they have been hitting on the fall 11 to 17 foot down in 20 foot or deeper, next to bridge pylons or trees. lots of little ones keep at it and move a lot if your not catchin nothin.

Caught 45 today but only 13 keepers all from the bank. Deepest I fished was 10ft down with jig and bobber. Seemed most were at the 8ft mark. First two hours all 8 inchers then the occasional keeper. Nothing huge avg keeper 11 with a cpl that went 13. Interesting though all bigger fish were black crappie but caught a mix of both
