Every kid should get to play hookie. My best HS claim to fame is that one year I missed 54 days of school. My parents divorced when I was 14 and it only took me about 6 months to realize my mom went to work before the school bus came and got home after it ran. In the rural district I grew up in there were no truant officers and she could not know if I went to school. I went to school ever day during football season because the coach would not play you if you missed practice, but once football season was over at the end of October the fun was on. Unless it was raining, I was hunting. I would return to school in January and February, but the first warm days in march would find me at local stock ponds fishing.

I don't think it hurt my academics. I graduated from Oklahoma State University at the top of my Engineering class and retired in my mid fifties. Public schooling is highly over rated. Once you learn to read and do basic arithmetic, you have all the tools you need to learn any subject. I certainly would not trade a day on the lake for another day in school ( kid prison)

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Great job building memories Josh! Nothing wrong with skipping school for something they will remember forever!

I was glad to finally meet you in person jsplinter and hope we will be able to fish together soon. Glad you guys got on them, after we got some Waco specials from dean we were able to get a mess of fish. Dean has taught me a lot about that lake and you did well hiring him since you haven't been on it in a while it saves you in the long run lol. Happiness to you and yours Ruff!
