Pusher737 this is what I have found out,Dec the 20th they recieved pictures of your problems from the dealer,Dec 26th a signed release was recieved from you the customer so boat could be sent back to the factory,Tracker always has a year end shut down in December, and know the weather in Oklahoma has been very bad and unpredictable, the factory in Miami Oklahoma has recieved so much snow that the building were the boats are built and repaired has colapsed and caved in,they are struggling to get boat orders out and repair boats in,even boats that have been built and ready for delivery cant be shipped to dealers on time.

I bought a New Nitro in 2003 from BPS and tried to get warranty work done from BPS and two dealerships, it never happened. I talked to Tracker Marine several times and listened to promise after promise. Needless to say they did not do anything either. So one year later I sold the boat at a loss and bought a Skeeter. I will never buy from Tracker Marine again.

I have done a lot of work on brand new tahoe q3 and 4s over the last few years as a sub-contractor of glass and gel repairs. What i have learned is that it is not uncomon for traker to replace a hull. The problem is the local bps stores sit on repairs untill the customer has a fit, then they blame the repairman for being slow so the cutomer thinks the boat has been sent out when its really still in the stores yard. then they start the paper work for work order aproval, all the while telling the repairman that he can start the job, but with no work order # he cant get paid. The boats have the same problems that most others have to some degree or other, the problems are not so much Tracker as the seem to be BPS service dept. Just make sure you check out that new hull before you take it home and you should be fine.

I PLAN ON GOING OVER IT WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB, AND IF THERE ARE ANY FLAWS THEY WILL BE FIXED BEFORE I PUT IT BACK IN THE WATER. WHAT I AM SCARDED OF IS HAVING A THREE YEAR OLD BOAT BEFORE I GET TO REALLY BREAK IT IN.

the worst case I've seen was four months turn around on a job that BPS sent to some guy out of state to be repaired because he was so much cheaper than local repair shops. His repair didnt even survive the ride home. Tracker ended up replacing the hull after all was said and done. Most of the time it's a lot faster than that, not that I will ever defend BPS,they create their own P.R. problems by wanting to be the wal-mart of sporting goods. I really hope that every thing gets sorted out and you are happy in the end. Call them every few days to remind them you are waiting but try not to get much of an attitude with them because then they will get very very slowwwwwww. If it gets to be more than you want to put up with, tell them you are not happy with the product or the service you have NOT received and tell them you want your money back so you can spend it at a store where you will be treated like you are the only one they have to take care of. For the price you pay for a new boat you should be treated to promt resolution of any warrenty issue.
By the way, the problem you descibed sounds very much like a poorly done repair from the factory. Some times boats are worked on before they are sent out. Was it a small spot or was it the entire bottom? could you see raw glass or was there still gel coat under the part that peeled off?

IT WAS NOT THE ENTIRE BOTTOM OF THE HULL FLAKING OFF, BUT THERE WERE CRACK FROM BOW TO STERN. THE PLACES THAT HAD FLAKED OFF WERE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER, ALL THE WAY TO THE RAW GLASS. THERE WERE ABOUT FOUR OF THEM, TWO ON EACH SIDE. THE SPOT ON THE BOW WAS DONE WHEN THEY TOOK THE BOAT FOR THE TEST DRIVE, AND GOT WORSE EVERY TIME I PUT IT IN THE WATER.

I have a ?????. How do you get a boat back if you dont know where you hid it? From the details you gave about the problem it sounds like two seperate problems but likly with the same cause. The flake off spots to raw glass may be air trapped between the gel and the glass. this is a very common problem often caused by not rolling the wet glass properly, or from using too much hardener in the resin. The hardener develops heat that causes the molecular structure of the resin to cross link thus becoming rigid, but too much heat can cause a sever reaction similar to boiling water, this can cause air pockets if the resin hardens before it can be rolled with a bubble buster. The way to tell if it was air is by looking at the glass under the spot. If it looks smooth and shines it was air entrappment, thats a dead give away.As for the cracks, gel coat will only crack if the substrait flexes. In other words, If the hull moves more than the gel can, it will crack. There are two basic resons for this. 1) Impact. tell tale signs are cicular crack patterns or a star-burst shape, if the impact is long and narrow like hitting an under water object that does not penitrate the hull, the cracks will radiate away at an angle due to forward motion. 2) Hullflex due to not being rigid enough. This can have many causes, such as but not limited to, under engineering, but since not every tahoe has this problem thats not likly the culprit in this case, too much resin not enough glass. the higher the glass to resin ratio the stronger and lighter the laminate.... the opposite is also true, a high resin ratio will make it weak. also and more common is human error i.e. short cuts, lack of att. low skill level..... forgot a mat or two, it was time to go home, I'll finish it tomorrow, and the list goes on.
I cant say 100% but it sounds like a human error in construction of the hull. Knowing all this may not help resolve your problem any faster but I think a well informed consumer is his own best advicate.
one last thing. dont be afraid to go to the top if you need to. In my dealings with Trackers warrenty dept. the guys in Spingfield are the ones that get it done when the locals fail you. And by the way, even though policy says they need paper work to send out boats, many times they have called shops where I work looking for boats they cant find and more than once they have had boats stolen from thier own yard and didnt know it for weeks because they thought it was sent out for repairs.
Hope they send yours back soon. nothing worse for a boater than not having a boat in the spring time.
