I just purchased a Shimano Stella 4000 Fi and was wondering if anyone owns one and uses it in saltwater? I'd like to get a whole lot of bang for my buck on this purchase and would like some actual testimonies from this group. Thanks in advance.

you may need to check in the saltwater section to see if anyone is using these there.

Shimano's site says yes so I will likely do it and just clean it after every use. I'll also check the saltwater section. Thanks.

I have many stellas from the FA, to FE, SW, to SWB. I fish them all in both fresh or saltwater and they are fine. Like you said, just give them a good rinse in fresh and it'll be ok. Worst case, you send it back to shimano for 30 bux and it ll be brand new.

Only reel they don't suggest is magnesium bodies.

Thanks for the response. I think the new Stella FI has a magnesium body.
