What kind of binoculars do you carry in your boat? I need a new pair, mine are messed up.

If you fish a lot of windy days I would look into the auto stabilizing binoculars. I have a pair of Nikon standard binocs and a pair of Fujinon Techno-Stabis. You would not believe how good the Techno Stabis are. Even in calm days it's a lot easier to see farther. One problem with them, price.

Nikon Monarch's. I like the12x42. Waterproof...even submersible for a second or 2.

Leica Trinovad. Bought 12 years ago. Don't plan on ever buying another pair. Good optics last a lifetime. Still have my grandad's Leicas from the 70's.

I keep an old pair of Leupold Wind River 10x50's. They do pretty good if it isn't too rough.

7 or 8 x 50. The big field of view helps compensate for the boats motion, but a small boat in mild chop (which is north Texas all the time) is just too unstable for a 10x or greater. I will be contrary and say don't spend big dollars for a big brand, the high dollar names get you a sharper and brighter image, which is seldom needed on inland lakes. Tasco or Bushnell are fine. Rubber armored of course.

By far the best set of binoculars I have ever had was a pair of Steiner's that I lucked into at a garage sale for $10!!! Incredibly clear and sharp optics. I loved the fact that they are always in focus from 0 to infinity. They are expensive but I believe they are worth every pennie.
I got a bait soooo secret, not even the fish know about it!

I use a 300mm zoom lens on my canon camera. Take a picture and use optical zoom on camera to see. Then delete the picture if not wanted.

I agree with Brian. I have a pair of Steiner's that are always in focus and it sure makes seeing things in a rocking boat a whole lot easier.
