Great information Sure Strike, Thanks for sharing!!!

Do you fish top water if there are birds in the area vs. plastics/crankbaits if there are no clear signs of bait? Or do you just move on and look for bait?

I do fish topwater and birds are a great indicator that there are schools of bait fish in the area. However the time of year and what type of fish I am after will have a lot to do with the type of bait I use. This time of the year there is a very good chance that is you see birds and fish boiling on the surface it will be a mixture of Whites, Largemouth and Smallmouth. Now if there are Whites present and that is what you are fishing, a topwater bait will work great. But if you are after largemouth you are going to have to get under the whites and for this a lipless crankbait will work great. Now if there are birds present I will do some homework before hitting the water and relay on the seasonal patterns to help me locate and catch fish.
Thanks for asking and good luck.

Fished all day today. From Cow House Creek to Cedar Creek. Best luck we had was crank baits along timber and lake points. No luck for us with jigs but may have been off on colors. 78 degree water temp, overcast in the AM and PM was sunny. Up to 18 mph winds today, so if your boat doesn't like chop have fun!

Thanks. Got a ZX250 so that shouldn't be a problem but have absolutely no knowledge with the lake.

Some one help me out here. Whats the deal with the 36 bridge? I hear alot of talk about it, and seems to be "the spot". Is there a certain spot or location? Is there any truth to it, or is it just another place on Belton Lake? Thanks.

Ive only been there twice and both times I do remember it being very shallow around the bridge. I just hear people saying" you gotta fish the 36 bridge, Im going to the 36 bridge, 36 bridge this, 36 bridge that. Just curious about spots.

I remember the days when you could launch from White Flint Park ( by the bridge ) I tried be the bridge for everything and never had much luck. Haven't launched there in like a year and a half.

Hello Surestrike, I have a question..Would you still be throwing the jig in the Green Pumpkkin with the trailor to match at the present? I'm thinking about totally committing to the jig and buying a jig specific Rod and going out with just that bait in three colors..Blackblue,Brown..Also, when you fish with jigs do the fish tend to be bigger as it always suggested? As always..Thanks for your input!!

I would say that if you haven't tried jig fishing you need to, like you have heard some big fish can to taken on jigs. One of the best way to learn is to set yourself up a rod and reel combo for jig fishing and on your next outing leave everything else in the box and only have that combo on deck. Make yourself fish only a jig. Once you have the hang of fishing a jig, you'll have one more tool to use when on the lake.
Hope this helps
