Wow. I thought us bass fishermen went to the extreme in our efforts. Looks like you guys know what you are doing and do it well. So what type of "bait" do you use to catch these monster carp?

we use something called boilies they are semi hard round balls of fish food don't now how else to explain it, I was using pineapple flavor and Plum and Squid Flavor, Brian the guy in the hat was using boiled feild corn with betine and a butter nut flavoring added, we chummed with boiled field corn, hemp seed, and corn steep liquer pellets there some kind of calf feed but big carp really dig them

Why else you think they'd be able to sit so long and still be grinning!.....hee-hee!
Say...them "boilies"...that's how they do it in the UK is it not?
Great trip guys, got me hankerin' for some of that action!

Those two fish in the first photo appear to be about the size I used to catch as a youngster when I was being taught how to handle a big fish without breaking him off. 4# test line on a 7' ultra light spinning rig, using Wheaties and Big Red dough balls for bait. They certainly can teach a youngster how to use the drag and rod tip to full advantage. And, teach them how to control the adrenaline rush during the battle. Looks like y'all had a good time.

First: Two words... mosquitos and snakes!
Second: Since it's catch and release anyhow, there are few fish who put up more of a pull and fight than a big carp.
Did you guys chum? I have chummed up some monsters with range cubes while trying to get catfish.

Pound for Pound carp but up a great scrape, the largest in these photos took well over 10 minutes to land peeled about 30 yards of drag off my reel twice once directly under the rod tip, snakes I got in the boat at dark Dave and Brian sat in the water, dave would just shoo them out of the way

Great trip guys, got me hankerin' for some of that action! yeah boilies are the UK aprouch to carp fishing I really like using them cause they can be in the water for 6 hours and catch 5 fish and still be ready to catch some more and since we use a hair rig the bait dosen't go on the hook it hangs just below it it allows you to really cast along way with out the fear of casting your bait off, in the photos I was fishing one rod about 10 yards off the cliff bank

WOW!!! Those are some nice fish man!!! It looks very nice there....where were you? I took some kids carp fishing yesterday and they caught many fish over ten pounds......a couple about 20. We used kibbles and bits and donuts for bait. I also caught one with the broke back, like you said, from getting hit by a boat or something. Question: What makes good habitat for the huge ones??? I can catch fish less than 15#s all day but never anything over 25#. Change bait?? Location?? Thanx and congrats on those VERY nice fish!!!

We used to catch them at Lake Tawakoni all the time. Nothing near that big though. I think the biggest was 20 pounds, but still one heck of a fight. Great catch.

Nice goin' guys ! I for one, can dig catching carp like that. Some of my earliest fishing was done on a shallow muddy river north of Chicago and we pulled a few carp outta there. NOTHING that big though....WAY TO GO !
Keep 'dem lines tight and enjoy the fight....!
